I RCONSTRUCTION
CHAPTE

GENERAL
The model GVppump is of the vertical two-stage single-suction centrif-
ugal type. Its rotating element is connected to an electric motor
shaft through a flexible coupling and constructionally its disassembling
and assembling are easy.
Fig. 1.1

2 . PIMP CASING
The volute casing is sPlit into
two halves along the vertical
plane containing the axis, and
the removable half casing can be
removed easily without disturbing
the suction and discharge PiPes,
both of which are Provi-ded in
the stationary half casing.

3. IMPELLER
Impeller is designed in PaYing
attention to improvement of PumP
efficiency and suction Perform-
ance.

(Z) Shift the bearing inner case (14) toward the impeller side.
Since the ball bearing (S+1 is lightly pressed onto the inpeller shaft
it can be drawn off when the inner race is hit lightly.

2. ASSEMBLING
Assernbling can be carri-ed out by reversi-ng order of disassembling and
attention must be paid to the following:
(1) Cleanse each part thoroughly to remove rust and scale, and be sure
there are no injury and burr in fitting parts.
(2) Assemble fitting parts according to match marks if any.
(3) Turn nuts for rotating parts securely and fix anti-rotation device
wi.thout fai1.
(4) Be sure to thoroughly cleanse the ball bearing with pure kerosene
taking care to keep off dust and foreign matter.

Alignment is to be confirmed if it is within the specified limit
shown in part 5, Chapter f. in the instruction manual for centrif-

(4) Referring to Fig. 3.4 floating seat (54-1) (carbon) must be inserted
by hand until it touches bottom firnly taking care not to injure
sliding face.
(5) Referring to Fig. 3.4 fi.t rotating elements to sleeve (22A) before
fixing it to shaft. Rotating elements must be in correct assembly
when fitted to sleeve.
Place stopper ring (54-7) against shoulder which forms fitting base
line and tighten it by setscrew. Burr at sleeve end m u s t b e r e moved
beforehand.
(6) After fitting rotating elements, push seal ring (54-4) by hand and
confirm if they can move freely on sleeve by spring load.
If this action is bad, seal will be imperfect and leakage will result.
