What is
Ayurveda?
A question often asked, “What is Ayurveda?”

The easy answer is that Ayurveda

is the 5000-year-old traditional sci-
ence that was designed to bring
the body back into balance in or-
der to heal itself from ailment—
that in itself is amazing—but un-
derneath that, Ayurveda is so
much more…

What is the key difference between herbomineral and

polyherbal medicines in Ayurveda?
We don't find this nomenclature in traditional Ayurvedic text books. This termi-
nology is being used by modern authors for various Ayurvedic formulations. In
Ayurveda medicines are prepared by herbs and minerals. Various minerals like
gold, iron, copper, mercury etc are used to prepare Bhasma. During preparations
various herbs are used in Shodhan process. These preparations falls within the
category of herbomineral preparations. In Ayurveda it's known as RAS SHAS-
TRA.
There is another category of medicines which are prepared exclusively with
herbal formulations which includes Churn,Kwath, Asav,Arisht etc, are being
classified as poly herbal.

Is the argument "Allopathic medicines have side effects

and Ayurvedic medicines do not " correct? If not, how can
this argument be countered?
One need not to argue that Ayurvedic medicines don't have any side effects. This
argument is absolutely unfounded and baseless and advanced by marketing strate-
gist or by those having no knowledge of Ayurveda.
In Ayurveda every Dravya i.e. Herb or eatables have its own Guna, dharma they
works or act differently with different individuals according to their Prakriti, while
prescribing medicine prakriti of a patient is of utmost importance. Here the judge-
ment of Vaidyas plays important role on effectiveness of medicine otherwise medi-
cine will work adversely.
Not only medicine even certain food items are also identified as causing side ef-
fects. Can you believe 3000 years back Ayurveda knew that milk or milk products
are not suitable to the persons having cough Prakriti or Papaya works as laxa-
tive, one can get such findings on innumerable herbs or food items in Ayurvedic
texts.

What is an ideal way of losing weight in Ayurveda for a kapha body

type?
Obesity is a disease. Ayurveda treats whole body in a natural way according to
the Prakriti of the patient. According to Ayurveda most of the diseases originate
from stomach intestines or the food one takes. Now it has been proved scientifical-
ly that genetic mutations and structures are affected largely by food we eat. Root
cause of every disease is hidden in our genes. Since ages Ayurveda emphasises
on AHAR and Vihar means food we take and our daily routine as prescribed in
Ayurveda.
In Ayurvedic text ASHTANG HRIDAY you will find a chapter on DINCHARYA. It
has given elaborated daily routine for healthy life. Getting up early morn-
ing ,exercise etc. Thousands years back Ayurveda could visualise importance of ex-
ercise for healthy body in this shloka below:

stantial number of herbs which differ in both.

The legend of Tartini's

"Devil's Trill Sonata"
The Violin Sonata in G minor, more famously
known as the Devil's Trill Sonata is a famous
work for violin by Giuseppe Tartini (1692–1770),
famous for being extremely technically demand-
ing.
Tartini stood along with Vivaldi and Veracini as
one of the great composers, violinists and theo-
rists of the 18th century. He produced at least
200 each of sonatas and concertos; the exact
figure is not yet known.

The story behind "Devil's Trill" starts with a dream. Tartini allegedly told the French
astronomer Jérôme Lalande that he dreamed that The Devil appeared to him and
asked to be his servant. At the end of their lessons Tartini handed the devil his violin
to test his skill—the devil immediately began to play with such virtuosity that Tartini
felt his breath taken away. When the composer awoke he immediately jotted down
the sonata, desperately trying to recapture what he had heard in the dream. Despite
the sonata being successful with his audiences, Tartini lamented that the piece was
still far from what he had heard in his dream. What he had written was, in his own
words: "so inferior to what I had heard, that if I could have subsisted on other means,
I would have broken my violin and abandoned music forever." the story in his Voyage
d’un Français en Italie (1769)

Keto Diet
A keto diet is well known for being a low carb diet, where the body
produces ketones in the liver to be used as energy. It’s referred to
as many different names – ketogenic diet, low carb diet, low carb
high fat (LCHF), etc. When you eat something high in carbs, your
body will produce glucose and insulin.

What foods to avoid on keto?

It is safe to include beef, eggs and butter in a ketogenic diet. Low-carb vegetables,
such as asparagus, celery, mushrooms and broccoli, are also recommended to be in-
cluded in the diet. On the other hand, it would also be a good thing to know which
foods to avoid when you are on a ketogenic diet.

What not to eat on keto?

As with protein, not all fat is the same in terms of quality, and we need to know what
not to eat on keto. NO trans fats – hydrogenated trans fats, such as margarine.
They’re EXTREMELY inflammatory and high in omega-6s. NO refined vegetable oils –
sunflower, canola, saffron, cottonseed, soybean, corn oil, grapeseed. Same reason as
with trans fats.

How does the ketogenic diet weaken cancer cells?

The protein found in a ketogenic diet cancer generally comes from the following
sources: Antioxidants, organic acids and enzymes are also recommended to help
your body create an alkaline environment. When you absorb organic acids, it helps
to weaken cancer cells by counteracting the acidity with cellular oxygenation.
Please consult a dietician or doctor before starting Keto Diet.
