Lutong Bahay Ni Nanay

A Filipino restaurant that you deserve

No matter where we are in the world, it seems that EVERYONE has

tried Filipino food. How, you may wonder, is that even possible? Our guess
is that even when Filipinos are living outside of their home country, the food
that they traditionally make is still a part of their diet on a regular basis.
Filipinos are proud of their culture and particularly proud of their food:
Whether it is chicken adobo, lumpia, pancit bihon, or even bulad, Filipinos
know their way around the kitchen. Having all lived in the Philippines for a
few years, few things make us miss the Philippines more quickly than
tasting the delicious dishes that Filipinos love to cook. All of us had great
(and sometimes weird!) experiences with food in the Philippines.
Growing with parents we are more exposed to our mother because
they usually stay at our houses. When it comes to the food we commonly
eat foods or dish that is served and cooked by our mother or Nanay in
Philippines. The taste of the food that most Filipino’s eat is the food from
their mother. Since the start of the day breakfast is served from our mother
until the end of the day the mother will serve as the chef of the house.
I asked my Aunt from abroad when she came back last 2017. “How
does working abroad feels?” the first thing she replied is food and next is
work. My aunt is always active when it comes to food I assumed that the
first thing that she will reply is the struggle of working abroad however she
replied about food the food that she can’t eat abroad. Laing (Dagmay in
waray-waray) is a vegetable dish that is made of dried taro leaves and mix
with coconut cream, you may also add bagoong or shrimp paste. She is
missing this food since when she was abroad, my grandmother usually
cooked it to my mother and my aunt they always crave for it. Because also
of their work they can’t prepare a food that needs a lot of rare ingredient
which is some can be only found in the Philippines such as like Bangus and
many more.

According to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration

or POEA, there were more than 1.8 million Filipinos (both new hires and
re-hires) who left the country to work in 2015. Land-based workers still
got the big chunk at more than 1.4 million while there were more than
406,000 seafarers deployed.

What’s more alarming is that this number increases every year,

which could indicate that income opportunity in the Philippines is not at
par with other countries overseas. There are also more re-hires than new
hires, especially for land-based workers. Imagine the number of OFW who
is craving the food that they deserve to eat abroad.

Most of the OFW are more likely to crave food that they can’t eat
abroad because the lack of specific ingredients that they can use. So our
purpose is to replenish the stomach of our fellow Filipinos. Dishes here in
the Philippines is mesmerizing that is why we crave for it. Filipinos usually
like instant foods we want food that is ready to eat yet delicious and suitable
for our budget.
Lutong Bahay Ni Nanay is a perfect restaurant for Filipino abroad or
OFW that who want to taste their food that they miss. It serves dishes that
remembers the taste of Filipino foods that are made by our Nanay’s. It
doesn’t only allows OFW to eat the certain dish that are made by their
Nanay’s but also to feel the home. Some OFW are craving foods from the
Philippines because most of the fast food chain abroad depends on the taste
of a particular country. It would be also an honor to serve OFW because of
their bravery, sacrifice and love for their family. It doesn’t only give a taste
to foreigners but also give them idea about Filipino foods. We give
discounts and at the same time best treatment for our OFW.

The main purpose of this business is to give our OFW the Filipino
food or dish that they rarely eat such as like Adobo, Lechon, Sinigang and
more. Our main chef will be of course a pure Filipina Nanay that is highly
trained to cook Filipino foods. We will make sure that OFW will have a
great day after they eat remembering foods that they occasionally eat. Here
in Lutong Bahay ni Nanay will guarantee OFW that we can serve the best
Filipino food that they always wanted.
Our group decided to make a restaurant that is named Lutong Bahay
ni Nanay which is inspires is to give them a food that they deserve. So we
planned to make a fast food chain that is purpose is to serve all Filipino
dishes to all OFW that wanted to taste the original foods that they
occasionally eat.
