CYBERSECURITY CARAVAN AND ACADEME FORUM

Background

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is mandated to


ensure the rights of individuals to privacy and confidentiality of their personal information;
ensure the security of critical ICT infrastructure including information assets of the
government, individuals, and businesses; and provide oversight over agencies governing and
regulating the ICT sector and ensure consumer protection and welfare, data privacy and
security, foster competition, and the growth of the ICT sector. The crafting of the National
Cybersecurity Plan 2022 (NCSP 2022) is a vital tool in fulfilling this mandate.

The 4th Key Imperative under the NCSP 2022 is the protection of individuals in cyberspace
and part of this is heightening the awareness of Internet users on the importance of
CyberSecurity. The CyberSecurity Caravan’s objective is anchored on this rationale.

Objective

This Caravan aims to educate and develop the awareness of students, and even teachers, on
Cybersecurity and integration of Cybersecurity Curriculum to the Philippine Education.

Cybersecurity Caravan

It will raise awareness on the importance of Cybersecurity and will help to educate,
empower, and protect the individuals in Information security.

Target Audience: Senior High school students and College Students

Program Proper: 8am – 3pm

 Protect Yourself in Cybersafe (Ms. Fleur Nadua and Ms. Apple Pre, DICT)
 Overview of Data Privacy Act of 2012 (National Privacy Commission)
 3 Key Lessons for the Next Generation CYBERFORCE (Mr. Marc Lainez, Palo Alto)
 Cybersecurity: A view from the front lines (Mr. Rolando J. Ong, FireEye Singapore
Private Ltd)
