Timeline of activities (Instructional Procedures):

I will start by explaining bibliography procedures. I will explain each part individually in MLA
Format. Last, First M. Book. City: Publisher, Year Published. Print Using the interactive
whiteboard, I will show a few examples of how to cite sources using books, newspapers,
magazines. Book example in print: Dickens, Charles. Great Expectations. New York: Dodd, Mead,
1942. Print. Book example online: James, Henry. The Ambassadors. Rockville: Serenity, 2009.
Google books. Web. 19 Sept. 2017. Then as a class, I will give an example and each student will
try and cite it on his/her own. Then, a student will come up and fill out one part of the citation. I
will let the students self-correct each other until they think they have it correct. The students will
explain why they cited it the way that they did. We will do several examples like this. Then, I will
move into explaining the research paper. We will talk about the parts of the research paper,
beginning, middle, and end. We will talk about what should be in each part of the paper. Also,
we will talk about where we add our citations into the paper. I will give each student a copy of
the rubric, so they know exactly what I am looking for. Next, each student will go to the cart and
get their laptop. We will all open up Google Earth, and I will have it open on the interactive
whiteboard. I will let them try to explore for a few minutes, then we will try to find a few things
as a class. Next, the students will be able to find their geographical feature. Once they have
found it, they will start to look up basic facts on the feature. Once the student feels they have
enough facts, they will start to write the paper. The students will print out their research paper
and have a classmate peer review it. They will then make the necessary revisions, and print out
their final copy. Then, they will submit the rough draft and final copy to me. A few days later,
when everything is graded we will revisit this assignment and talk about any common error
themes.

Assessment Plan:
Students will graded on their assignment. They will be graded on content, organization, writing
conventions, notecards, and bibliography. The notecards and bibliography will be graded on the
accuracy of the citation. Rubric is adapted from The Education Center, Inc.
