accordance with the applicable sections of the ASME Code Section VIII, Division 1.

3.1.2 Vendor shall provide mechanical and performance guarantees for the exchanger supplied.

3.1.3 A completed exchanger data sheet including design conditions, fluid characteristics, operating
conditions, bundle information and materials of construction shall be submitted with quotation.

3.1.4 General arrangement drawings with materials of construction and thicknesses of major components
shall be submitted for approval prior to fabrication. Component detail drawings shall be submitted for
fabricated items.

3.1.5 Each exchanger shall be hydrostatically tested at 1.3 times its MAWP and shall be maintained for at least
one hour.

3.1.6 Before shipment, each exchanger shall be cleaned and dried. Flanges shall be coated with rust
preventative and protected by gasketed wooden or metal covers.

3.2 Process

3.2.1 Exchanger shall have a minimum 25% of excess surface against the surface calculated based on the
clean condition. Then, the surface area shall be recalculated with the dirty condition using Vendor’s
standard fouling factor. The final surface area shall be whichever greater of ‘the surface based on the
clean condition with 25% of excess surface’ or ‘the surface based on the dirty condition.
Water cooled exchangers shall have 0.00020m2hr degC / kcal fouling factor on the waterside, plus
vendor’s standard fouling on the other side when calculating the dirty condition.

3.2.2 Effective heat transfer surface area shall be calculated based on tube length measured between the
inner faces of tubesheets.

3.2.3 On water cooled shell and tube exchangers or hairpin exchangers the water shall be in the tubes. The
minimum in-tube water velocity shall be 1.5 m/s (5 fps).
