When Yellow Icon with h the padlockk is crossed byy red cross, it  means theree is no connecction between the 
laptop and SD Connectt unit.  This faault is not relaated to MB D
Diagnosis softw
ware, but Windows XP 
networkinng functions, which often cchanges to “O Obtain IP Adddress Automaatically” . If this happens, try to 
do the following:  

1. Connect LAN ccable to the SD Unit and yo our laptop. 
2. Po
ower up SD C Connect UNITT (internal battteries must bbe fully charged or the unit must be con
nnect 
to
o a car or OBDD‐II power source). 
3. Click the SD ico
on on the botttom task barr. 

  
4.  YYou should see the window
w as below. 

 
5. Click “Select  M eck if SD Unit is “Accessiblee”, select it and click “SELEECT”.

ur SD UNIT : 1172.29.168.11 12, 172.29.1227.119 ,  172.229.127.129 . C Click on Subnnet

m ce and it will ffill automaticaally. Then clicck OK. 
 
     

11. Close. At this m
moment yourr SD Unit shou uld connect too the laptop.
12. Check in My Co onnection if tthe status is  “CONNECTED D” . 

 
13. Go to STAR UTTILITIES (Icon on the deskto button, selectt CAESAR SELF 
op), select Seelf Diagnosis b
DIAGNOSIS. Th hen push “NO O” button on next two screeens. Start Seelf Test. It takees about 45 
seeconds and th he bar is movving . At this m
moment the ppadlock on yeellow 21 icon should lock ittself 
foor a time of thhe test. The self test will generates a reeport with no  errors listed.  It means yo
our SD 
iss OK and it is cconnected. Yoou can start D DAS or Xentryy diasgnosis.

NOTEE : Every timee the SD UNITT connects to the laptop a nd exchangees data the paadlock on yellow 
21 ico o connection  between SD
on is locked. IIf not, it means there is no D Unit and Lap
ptop.

on do the following. 

1. Make sure you
M u can connectt to your SD U
Unit by wire. IIf not sure see the steps above. Then, 
disconnect  LA AN cable fromm the SD Unit or your laptoop. 
2. Po ower up SD C Connect UNITT (internal battteries must bbe fully charged or the unit must be connnect 
too a car or OBDD‐II power source). 
3. If Windows will not find the e SD Unit autoomatically, goo to main menu START, CO ONNECT TO,  
SH HOW ALL CONNECTIONS.

ess connection” then, rightt click and goo to “properties”

12. It should connect now. Red cross should d disappear.
