Changes DC-Footing for Windows

Date Version Change

Nov. 17 5.00 Graphic functions for drawing and labelling in the graphics, separate handling of graphics
elements in the input window (displayed in every geometry graphics) and single result
graphics (displayed only in this page), DXF import with support of layers to use the
graphics as a background for the input of elements. Shear design acc. to Eurocode 2 is
already done from a distance to the edge > 1.0d instead of 2.0d, if no punching design is
required.

Nov. 17 4.48 For design acc. to EC 2, shear design has to be done directly at the edge of the columns to
compare with V,Rd,max, in addition to the verification of the shear reinforcement at a
distance of d. Shear design is therefore done independently from the distance to the border
of the footing.

Sep. 17 4.47 In the verification against punching, we check smaller radiuses of punching cones acc. to
Eurocode 2 due to retaining soil pressures. In this case, the critical radius was not found
correctly in every case.

Aug. 17 4.46 For the values for the soil pressure force Nu,d the multiplication with the ideal pressure
width bid was missing. This results in small differences in the results for the stability
analysis acc. to Steckner.

Mai 17 4.45 As the perm. soil pressure acc. to DIN 1054:2010 depends on b‘ and therefore on the load
eccentricity, the critical comparison for the perm. soil pressure may occur in a different
load case combination than the maximum soil pressure. The case with a maximum value
of avail. sigma – perm. sigma is verified.

Mar. 17 4.44 In the verification against overturning acc. to SIA 267 with calculation by the eccentricity
with additional safety factors acc. to LS type 1 the consideration of loads as favourable or
unfavourable and the determination of the corresponding safety factors is improved. More
unfavourable results may occur.

July 16 4.40 Support of the T2W interface for import and restart of projects in VCmaster.

May 16 4.32 For the design against punching acc. to DIN EN 1992-1-1/NA:2013-04 in formula (6.50)
for v,Rd,c we have to use the factor 2*d/a instead of 2*d for the minimum value.

Dec. 15 4.30 (DC-Footing/Pylon) For soil with phi < 20° (outside of the range defined by Steckner) the
bedding coefficients C1 and C2 may be predefined, see Project – Name/Standard.

Nov. 15 4.21 For earthquake analysis acc. to SIA 267 the safety factors 1.20 and 1.50 for tan(phi) and c
from SIA are valid instead of the values 1.25 of and 1.40 acc. to Eurocode 8.

Nov. 15 4.20 Acc. to DIN 1054:2010 and commentary for the manual Eurocode 7, 2.5 b) the
combination factors psi for variable loads have to be used for the foundation engineering
verifications as well. Therefore they are used in the foundation engineering verifications
and not only for the design. When using DIN 1054:2005, the factors psi are not used for
foundation engineering following chapter 6.3.3 (4).

Oct. 15 4.13 The newer ZTV-Ing form (state of 2012) is available (if the option DCZTVK exists). If
“ZTVK form” is selected in the menu Project and the older version of the form is present,
the new one may be selected with Settings - Header ZTVK – „create standard header
again”.
Sep. 15 4.12 In the graphics-based output a function „Find“ (menu item Edit - Find or shortcut Ctrl-F)
is available. Improvement for the bearing capacity analysis with earthquake loads, if the
average values of phi and c are > 0.

Aug. 15 4.11 If an upper reinforcement is selected although none is required, the selected reinforcement
is printed in the output. For design acc. to SIA 262 the coefficient kc for shear design is
0.55 instead of 0.60 (SIA 262:2013 instead of draft 2010).

June 15 4.10 For embedded pylon footings the passive earth pressure above the center of rotation may
be reduced to the mobilised part with 0.25*E,pk acc. to DIN 1054:2010, 6.5.4 (4).
Selection under Project – Name/Standard. For the output of the values tan(alpha) we
distinguish between the values from the permitted inclination and the resulting inclination.

Mar. 15 4.00 Earthquake analysis acc. to Eurocode 8 and SIA 267

Jan. 14 3.13 For the punching check the consideration of the highest-loaded quarter acc. to booklet 399
is not used for design acc. to SIA 262 as well, because in this standard the eccentricity is
considered by the factor beta.

Oct. 14 3.11 For the determination of the critical punching cone for the design against punching with
iteration of the radius acc. to Eurocode 2, we have to consider not only the punching
reinforcement, but also the additional reinforcement to avoid punching reinforcement.

July 14 3.10 For the analysis of the safety against sliding for undrained soil (base friction angle = 0) the
resistance is calculated as R = c,u * A‘.

July 14 3.09 If the program is set to Eurocode 7, after File – New some partial safety factors were only
initialized correctly, if the selection of the analysis standard was done again. Now: correct
setting with File – New.

June 14 3.08 For the punching check the consideration of the highest-loaded quarter acc. to booklet 399
is not used for design acc. to DIN 1045-1 or Eurocode 2, because in these standards the
eccentricity is considered by the factor beta.

Apr. 14 3.05 Consideration of the National Annex for Eurocode 7 for Italy, where some special
definitions of NTC 2008 are not contained any more.

Mar. 14 3.04 Acc. to edition 2013 of SIA 267 (12.5.2.4), favorable permanent loads are not applied any
more with a factor of 0.80, but with 1.00. For available project files the former setting is
conserved. If the standard SIA 267 is selected again, the new factor is set.

Feb. 14 3.03 Correction of the settlement calculation fro strip footings due to the analysis per m length.

Jan. 14 3.02 For analysis acc. to SIA 267 the eccentricity and load inclination have to be calculated
with design values.

Dec. 13 3.00 Design with glass fiber reinforcement Schöck ComBAR available. New type of
reinforcement mesh R 524.

July 13 2.20 Design acc. to SIA 262, edition 2013

June 13 2.19 In the footing dialog, page Design, printing of the design of reinforced concrete may be
switched on or off.
May 13 2.18 For the settlement calculation the pressure of the soil from the embedment depth is
substracted. For bearing capacity analysis acc. to OENORM B 4435-2 (incl. OENORM B
1997-1-1) the bearing capacity load is the resultant (maybe inclined), not the vertical
component.

Apr. 13 2.16 Acc. to SIA 267, 8.5.2.1 the partial factor gamma,R for bearing capacity and sliding may
be set to 1.0, because we use an approved analysis approach. For tan(phi) and c we have to
use a safety factor also in LS type 2. The value is changed when the analysis standard is
selected again. For OENORM B 4435-2 the use oft he ground inclination coefficient g,c is
corrected.

Apr. 13 2.15 For analysis acc. to SIA, we have to use safety factors for the soil layer parameters for
bearing capacity, even if we have LS type 2. For the load case combinations acc. to SIA
260, we have to use the combination coefficients psi also for the foundation engineering
verifications. Generally, for exceptional load case combinations, we have to use the
coefficients psi2 for variable actions, for permanent actions we always use the faktor 1.0,
no factor < 1.0 for favourable actions.

Jan. 13 2.12 Faster determination of the possible load case combinations for a larger number of load
cases. As depending on the type (permanent, variable) a load case may be not applied,
applied 1.0-fold or gamma-fold, for 15 load cases + self-weight we have 3**16 = approx.
43 millions of theoretically possible combinations. From that number we have to
determine the combinations to be calculated effectively. For 15 defined load cases we have
a possible analysis time of 10 – 20 minutes with current hardware.

Dec. 12 2.11 Consideration of the minimum reinforcement for ductile component behavior for DIN EN
1992

Nov. 12 2.10 Full support of Eurocode 2 and 3 with definition of all the nationally defined parameters
(NDPs) for any country. Support of DIN 4085:2011 instead of 2007. Like in MS Word and
other programs scrolling is now possible by using the mouse wheel, the zoom function is
used with Ctrl-mouse wheel.

July 12 2.01 Predefinition of the values for the perm. eccentricity (e/d) for the overturning check for
analysis acc. to Eurocode 7

June 12 2.00 Full support of Eurocode 7 with all the 3 Design Approaches. Predefined settings for
Eurocode 7 (proposed values), Germany (DIN EN 1997-1 with DIN 1054:2010), Austria
(OENORM B 1997-1-1), France (NF EN 1997-1), Great Britain (BS EN 1997-1), Italy
(UNI EN 1997-1 with NTC 2008) and Spain (UNE EN 1997-1 with DB SE-C). Settings
for any country are possible with free selection of the Design Approach and the groups of
safety factors.
Full centering for strip footings is possible, verification of the soil pressure with design
values acc. to DIN 1054:2010.
For EC2 new proposed value for punching for vRd,max = 0.4 instead of 0.5.
Hungarian program version available.

Dec. 11 1.814 Consideration of different load cases with different safety factors and categories for
excavation loads. Improvements for the consideration of alternative load cases.

June 11 1.812 For the analysis of fixed block footings acc. to Steckner the moment M,alpha
(serviceability) has to be limited to the value of M,u (stability).

May 11 1.811 The punching check is not required only if the critical circular section is touching the edge
of the footing. The regulation acc. to DIN 1045-1, 10.5.1 (1) „…if the full section goes
beyond the critical circular section at least by 1,5 d“ interpreted acc. to different sources in
a manner that this point is only valid for ribbed slabs.
Apr. 11 1.89 For the punching check of compact footings the reduction value for soil pressure is used
with the smaller area of the punching cone.

Mar. 11 1.88 For analysis acc. to SIA 267 the combination factors (reduction factors) psi are used acc.
to SIA 260, 4.4.3.4, for non-leading actions not with psi*gamma, but only with the value
of psi (in contrary to DIN and Eurocode). Combination factors = 0 may now be used.

Dec. 10 1.86 Under Project – Name/Standard the safety factor for self-weight for foundation
engineering checks and design may be defined.

Sep. 10 1.85 More exact calculation of the settlement for circular footings and for linear base pressure.
For the settlement calculation the critical combination and the applied limit depth are
printed. Romanian version available.

Sep. 10 1.83 In the output, the distances x and y for the sections for shear design are referencing to the
coordinate system instead of the center of the footing.

Aug. 10 1.82 For the thickness of the footing for the distances in the checks of shear force and
punching: variable thickness is used for base inclination.

Aug. 10 1.81 Acceleration for the creation of the load case combinations with more than 7 load cases.

available.

May 10 1.68 For passive earth pressure only the activated part (<= load) is applied for the section forces
in the footing base.

Mar. 10 1.66 In a load case combination which contains extraordinary loads, the self-weight has to be
used with safety factor 1.0 for design.

Mar. 10 1.65 Improvement for the transfer of symbol data for additions (from DCNAME0.DXB =
original file DC-Software to DCNAME.DXB = customer data).

Mar. 10 1.64 For the check of position stability all loads of one load case are combined before they are
considered to be stabilizing or destabilizing. The position of the tilting edge is printed. The
check of position stability is considered in the optimization and in the summary.

Oct. 09 1.60 Only the new type of dongle HASP HL is supported from now on.
New layout for icon and splash window.
Setting the font size for the status line is possible (Settings – Font sizes)

July 09 1.55 For the settings of limit values for the eccentricity (overturning check) (see Project –
Name – Analysis standard – Parameters LS 1A/overturning) the limit values for circular
footings may be defined separately. For selecting the reinforcement the pages for the
upper reinforcement are always displayed.

June 09 1.54 Additions for design acc. to DIN 1045-1:2008.

Overturning check for SIA with design values for LS type, for DIN additional check of
position stability for LS 1A (see at the standard definition: button „parameters LS
1A/overturning“).

Jan. 09 1.50 Support of the new OENORM B 1997-1-1 based on Eurocode 7

Oct. 08 1.45 For the design of a circular footing as a pylon footing acc. to Steckner: use of a circular
section, because a horizontal section is considered.

Sep. 08 1.44 Changed safety factor acc. to DIN 1054:2005 correction 4:2008-10. For available projects
resp. selected DIN 1054:2005 the standard has to be selected anew to set the changed
safety factor.
The position of the column may be selected to be left or right-aligned or centered with
automatic shifting when changing the dimensions of the footing. Concentrated loads may
be positioned in the center of the column automatically.

July 08 1.41 The load eccentricity ex and ey is printed with the overturning check.

June 08 1.40 ZTVK form available as an option (menu item Project – ZTVK-Form), rotated header
field for landscape graphics on portrait page.

DIN 1054:2005 to select the new safety factors.
With the mouse wheel you may zoom in the input window (Zoom greater/smaller) and
scroll in the results.
Under Settings – Header new function „Adapt“ to adapt the width of the complete header
to the available width of the sheet (e.g. for a printer with another printable width).

DC-Footing/Pylon: Display of the earth pressures for the approach acc. to Steckner in the
graphics.

Sep. 07 1.33 Shear design is also done for strip footings.

Aug. 07 1.31 For punching design we still can arrive without punching reinforcement by using
additional reinforcement, if Vd > VRd,max, but the required reinforcement grade is < rmax.

July 07 1.30 DC-Footing/Pylon available for analysis of pylon footings acc. to Steckner (load bearing
not over the base, but fixing with earth pressure on the footing’s sides). Improved
approach with consideration of soil layers, ground water level and excavation depths.
For analysis of compact footings acc. to booklet 525 DAfStb the increase factor for the
punching load bearing capacities is printed. When increasing the load bearing capacities
by an additional reinforcement, the increased values are printed.
For design acc. to ÖNORM the punching check is not required only if the critical round
section with a distance of 1.5 d is touching the footing edge. Shear design is done if no
punching check is required and at least one edge distance is > 1.5 d.

June 07 1.21 For punching design acc. to ÖNORM B 4700 only one circular section has to be designed.
For free standard definition for the analysis we include a load safety factor automatically
for the design (1.35 for DIN, SIA and ÖNORM, 1.40 for British Standard), if the load
safety factors for the analysis are defined as 1.0 and the design standard expects design
section forces.

of vertically.

Mar. 07 1.15 Correction of the order of soil layers in the settlement analysis.

Mar. 07 1.14 For the check against overturning, acc. to SIA 267 the relative eccentricity may always be
<= 1/3, in contrast to the limit value for dead loads acc. to DIN of 1/6.

Mar. 07 1.13 If the eccentricity is too large (caused by a large moment) when calculation the section
forces for the design of reinforced concrete without self-weight, and no soil pressures can
be calculated, we do the calculation including self-weight. This way, the section forces for
the bending design can be calculated.

Dec. 06 1.10 Design acc. to British Standard BS 8110 available, french version available.

Dec. 06 1.02 The type of earth pressure to be applied with the bearing capacity and sliding analysis may
be defined differently for x and y direction with the parameters for the excavation stages,
because in both directions different depths of the footing in the ground are possible.
