We should keep money in the bank

Government

Prime Minister

A very pleasant day I bid to Madam

Speaker/Mr Speaker, wise
timekeeper, honourable
adjudicators, my respected
opposition team, beloved fellow
team members and members of the
floor.

We, from the government team

would like to propose and defend
the motion for today’s debate 100%
which is we should keep money in the
bank.

And as the prime minister of the

government team, I will define the
motion and present one argument to
be debated by this house. My
deputy prime minister ( ) will rebut
and presents another two
arguments. Lastly, the third
minister ( ) will rebut all the flaws
from the opposition team.

As the prime minister from the

government team, allow me to open
the government’s case by defining
the keywords in today’s motion.

According to the Oxford Advanced

Learner Dictionary, the word ‘keep’
means put or store in a regular
place. While, ‘money’ means the
assets, property, and resources
owned by someone and the last
keyword ‘bank’ means a financial
establishment that makes loans.

Thus, the motion for today’s debate

declares that We should put our
assets and property in a financial
establishment.

Having clarified the definitions for

today’s motion, let me now state the
affirmative’s stand from the
government team, we believe that
we should keep money in the bank.

The August House, to open up my

first argument, I will look at the
safety and security keeping the
money in the bank. As we know, by
saving money in the bank, you save
money for any emergency in a
secured way and it provides you an
easy access to your money. In
contrary, if you keep our money at
home, you are risking all assets you
have!

So, if you run into an unexpected

bill, you can use the cash you have
set aside to pay it promptly. You can
also use your savings to tackle
emergencies such as hospitalisation
bill or car break down repair.

Thus, members of the floor, before

I end my speech, let me restate our
stand today that, our house agree
wholeheartedly to the motion 100%
that we should keep money in the
bank. With this, I rest my case,
thank you.

Deputy Prime Minister

Thank you Madam Speaker/Mr

Speaker and a very pleasant day to
the wise adjudicators, respected
opponents, and members of the
floor.

Before I move into my points of

argument, I would like to rebut the
flaw from the first speaker of the
opposition team. He/She brought up
the point that ________________

__________________________
________ This is wrong/I disagree
because ____________________

_____________.
With what have presented by our
house, we have proven that the
opposition’s claim cannot stand. So,
let me stress once again that we
should undoubtedly keep money in
the bank.

Madam Speaker/Mr Speaker, having

destroyed the opposition’s so called
arguments, allow me now to proceed
to my first point of argument which
is about the interest you can own by
keeping money in the bank.

Rather risking your money by

keeping it at home and do not get
any interest in return, it is better to
save money in the bank. Most of the
banks in Malaysia provide high
interest rate for savers with
minimum deposit of RM 200, such as
OCBC bank with 4.45% of interest
and RHB bank with interest rate of
3.17%.

In the long run, it appears to be a

big amount by just putting aside the
money in a secured system. Why
wouldn’t you make a move to save
without having even dropping a
sweat?

Now, let me move to my second point

which is about the convenience of
saving money in the bank. Once you
have saving in the bank, you can
actually initiate an online checking
account where most of the banks
have.

With this, you can stay connected

with any transaction, your balance
or even the whereabouts of your
money. Besides, you can pay your bill
through the amount in your bank
saving without having taking them
out. Indirectly, this reduces the
risk of being robbed.

Madam speaker/Sir speaker, I am

sure you are aware of the social
issues especially robbing. As such,
bringing plenty banknotes around is
only putting yourself in danger.
HOWEVER, if you have a checking
account, it makes your life much
easier and less troublesome.

Madam speaker/Sir speaker,

members of the floor, together with
the arguments brought forth by my
prime minister, we believe that our
arguments have supported today’s
motion that we should keep money in
the bank.

Before I take my seat, allow me to

stress once again that the motion
for today’s debate that we should
keep money in the bank should stand
firm and strong.

With this, ladies and gentleman, I

thank you.
Third Prime Minister

Thank you Madam Speaker/Mr

Speaker and a very pleasant day to
the wise adjudicators, respected
opponents, and members of the
floor.

After listening to the 2nd speaker

( ) from
the opposition team and the 1st
speaker ( )
from the opposition team, I began
to wonder how naïve and misleading
can some people be.

Therefore, I consider it is my
utmost duty to point out to the
opposition where they have made
mistakes in their arguments so that
next time they won’t be making the
same mistakes again. And I humbly
offer this service free of charge to
the opposition for the betterment
of our debating community.

Before I start rebutting all the

distorted arguments from the
opposition team, we, the government
team would like to state our stand
today that we are defending to the
motion today 100%.

I shall begin from the first speaker

from the opposition team. He/She
said that ___________________

__________________________
__________________________
__________________________
__________________________
_____. This is not true/I disagree
to that because ______________

__________________________
__________________________
__________________________
__________________________
__________________________
_______. So, one point dismissed.

Next, let’s move to what the second

speaker from the opposition team
has just said. He/She mentioned
that _______________________

__________________________
__________________________
__________________________
__________________________.
This is unacceptable/irrelevant
because ___________________

__________________________
__________________________
_____________. And, another
point dismissed.

Despite what have been pointed out,

He/She also claimed that _______

__________________________
__________________________

__________________________

__________________________
_________________________.
This is unacceptable/irrelevant
because ___________________

__________________________
__________________________

__________________________
__________________________

___________. Here, I would like to

remind the opposition team that
keeping money in the bank is better.
Again, I repeat/let me stress again
that we should keep money in the
bank. Thank you.

Government Reply Speech

Hi, we meet again. A very good day I

bid to Madam speaker/Sir speaker,
the honourable adjudicators,
esteemed time keeper, my excellent
fellow minister from the
government team, my worthy
opposition and members of the
August House.

Ladies and gentleman, it is time for

the reply speech. Today’s debate is
simple. It is a clash between
reasonable and ridiculous. We the
government team strongly hold to
the motion for today’s debate we
should keep money in the bank. To
support this stand, we have
provided/brought out 3 solid
arguments/reasons why we should
keep money in the bank.

Our first argument was that safety

and security the bank can offer.

For example, _________________

__________________________
__________________________

__________________________
__________________________.

Our second argument was that you

can own interest by saving in the
bank. For example, ___________

__________________________
__________________________

__________________________
__________________________.

Our third argument was that the

convenience of keeping money in the
bank. For example, ___________

__________________________
__________________________

__________________________
__________________________.

As you can see, our case is solid and

we have backed it up with sound and
logical arguments. We are pleased
with our work today. The rest is up
to the adjudicators. Before I end
our reply speech, I would like to ask
Madam/Sir Speaker, adjudicators
and members of the floor to agree
with us to accept the motion today.
With this ladies and gentlemen. I
rest my case.
