PS III Final Report for Megan Bos

University Consultant Comments:

Megan Bos was an intern teacher doing Professional Semester III and I was her University Consultant.
During this experience the intern teacher took on 50% of the instructional load of their Mentor Teacher.
The intern was also expected to participate in a series of online seminars and submit assignments at
regular intervals. The assignments involved a Professional Portfolio, Professional Growth Plans,
Professional Inquiry Project, and a Final Descriptive Report. I observed the teaching of the intern (3 times
through web conferencing) and had debriefing sessions after the teaching sessions where the intern
reflected on their practice. The following constitutes a summative description of the intern in the
practicum, based on the above sources of information.

Megan participated and contributed in a regular way to the online seminars. The seminars consisted of
different topics that were relevant to the interns, and they were required to present and respond to the
presentations of others. She provided insights and added to the ongoing discussion on these topics. Her
contributions included a useful presentation to the group on Inquiry Learning. This presentation was
prepared and professionally done.

Megan’s assignments were submitted on time and written in thoughtful ways. In the written work there
seemed to be an understanding and insight into teaching and learning as well as the demands of the
profession. Her Professional Goals and Growth Plan outlined specific areas of concern including
classroom management and inquiry learning to facilitate higher order thinking. These were specific
pragmatic activities that she made herself accountable for and reported on her success. Her Professional
Inquiry project involved developing resources to address gamification of inquiry learning. This project
culminated in a final resource that was shared on a web site.

From my in-class observations, she designed engaging learning activities, circulated well, collected
formative feedback, had closure at the end of the lessons, used effective wait time on questions, probed
student thinking with questions, used performance assessment, redirected students to reengage them
and linked learning to the real world.

In communication with the administrators and mentor teacher, she received a positive report and was
progressing in the teaching profession.

I have read the complete Final Report and certify that the assigned grade is a PASS.
