PRODUCT DATA
COOL WALL WATERPROOF COATING
SHEET
CODE: D166 EDITION: D2.05.2017

Description:
D166 DURABUILD COOL WALL WATERPROOF COATING is an acrylic polymer
based product for waterproofing and heat insulation to the building walls and
exposed roofs. When applied on the surfaces, it reduces heat transfer from the
exterior to the interior and vice versa. It essentially consists of hollow micro spheres
based on borosilicate glass bubbles which create air voids within microstructure of
coating resulting in low thermal conductivity and low dielectric constant. This “Air
Space” imparts excellent insulation properties to coating re-radiating most of the
solar heat back into the atmosphere. Thus, it acts as an “Energy Saver” by reducing
the power consumption load on air conditioner or room heater with additional
property of waterproofing.

Uses:
o At a DFT of 0.30 mm, the film is semi-permeable and breathable- As a decorative
textured finish and waterproofing coating of external walls and facades.
o At a DFT of 1.0 mm, the film forms a waterproof membrane for RCC roofs.
o Industrial and godown sheds with asbestos cement roofing sheets, Galvanized
tin sheets, Aluminum sheets, PVC sheets, cold storage, server rooms, electrical
control panel rooms etc.
o Metal and concrete storage tanks for water, fuels and chemicals

Features:
o Upto 6°C- 8°C thermal insulation is achieved
o Energy Savings in heating and cooling
o Solar reflectance (ASTM E1980-11, EN 673-2011, EN 410-2011) of 102%, re-
radiated heat back into atmosphere
o Excellent waterproofing and resistance to wind driven rain
o UV & IR resistant and reduction in heat conductivity
o Highly elastomeric and excellent crack bridging property.
o Excellent breathable property
o Does not contain heavy metals, Eco-friendly

Application Method
1 Surface Preparation
o Concrete surface: Clean the area from all loose particles, oil, grease and any
such deleterious materials with a wire brush. If required, use vacuum cleaner. Fill
any cracks upto 5 mm with D333 Durabuild Crack Repair Paste and use
Fixocrete SBR polymer modified mortar for cracks greater than 5 mm.
®

o Metal Surface: Clean the metal surface to remove existing paint, rust, etc. by
appropriate mechanical or chemical means. New surface should be degreased COOL WALL COATING
and cleaned well. CODE: D166
2 Mixing & Application
o Allow the cement sand renderings or concrete surface to mature for 6-8 weeks
before any surface coating. Bring the surface to SSD condition. Prime the surface
with 2 part of Durabuild Anti- Efflorescent Primer mixed with 1 part of water using
brush. This will cover 7 to 8 m2 per kg of primer. Allow it to dry for 5 to 6 hours.

o Apply Durabuild Cool Wall Coating by brush in 2-3 coats. The subsequent coat
shall be applied after the previous coat becomes touch dry and in a perpendicular
direction to the previous coat. Follow the same process of application for both
concrete and metal surfaces.

o Allow the system to air cure fully for 7 days before putting in service.

Precautions and Limitations:

o Take only the quantity that is required for the area and keep the lid of the
container closed.
o Do not apply the coating in heavy sun or strong winds.
o Do not dilute and always keep coating as the final coat to realize its full potential
