When in Doubt, Don’t Throw it Out

My name is Brian I was born in 1920 in the city of New York. were back then we did not

know what recycling was. In New York there more than 1.5million people in one little away.

back then we did not use landfill because there was no place to put the trash so we used to put it

in a small building but the buildings got full so we used the ocean. But when years passed by the

the creatures in the ocean were dying and trash was floating on water. Recycling is defined as a

process to make used or wasted materials suitable to reuse. On average each person creates 4.38

pound of waste per day this means that if we're not recycling we'll run out of resources in no

time. Recycling programs should be mandatory because recycling saves energy, helps

climate problems, and also creates jobs.

Recycling programs should be mandatory because recycling saves energy. Recycling

often saves energy because the products being recycled usually require much less processing to

turn them into usable material (American Geosciences Institute 1). While people throw away

recycling products many of those products can be used in order to create or save energy.

Although the amount of energy saved depends on the material being recycled almost recycling

operations result in energy saving (American Geosciences Institute 1). The products that people

think are trash can be used to make other products. Recycling saves energy because the items

being recycled creates energy and saves energy. Also be recycling items can be made or it can

reused again.
This graph shows the percentage of products that people most currently recycle. People

are more likely to recycle newspapers more than cardboard boxes. However, people are least

likely to recycle glass containers. People need to become educated on how recycling these

simple materials can save energy. One simple way of making this task easier in homes would to

be posting a sign of all recyclable products above the trash can so it is not easy to forget. This

one easy task could save the world a lot of energy if it could happen in every home.

The government should make recycling mandatory because energy would be saved.

Recycling reduces greenhouse gases emissions from landfill. It can reduce deforestation by
saving energy and producing more energy efficient products (Pratt 1). The more we recycle the

more trees we save. Over all in the united states just half of the waste paper is recycled the rest

goes into landfill (Pratt 1). Instead of people throwing paper away they should recycle them so

they're not harming the environment. If the government tell its people to recycle. Are atmosphere

and the things that helps us breath like the trees can be safe. The more items we recycle the more

are trees and nature could be saved.

By recycling used products, a lot of energy will be saved. More jobs less pollution shows

that a 75 percent national recycling rate would create nearly 2.3 million jobs while reducing

pollution by 2030 (Vijayaraghavan 1). There would be plenty of jobs if more people would

recycle. For the past 20 years the united states has a pretty dismal rate of recycling hovering

around only 27 percent (vijayaraghavan 1). This quote supports the reason that americans are

wasting too much energy by not recycling. Recycling can help create a lot of jobs and if people

recycle many of jobs would be available.

Recycling should be mandatory because it helps climate problems. By recycling glass

products 21 percent of energy is being saved (Hutchinson 1). Instead of throwing away drinking

bottles it can be reused into another drinking bottle. By recycling newsprint products 45 percent

of energy is saved (Hutchinson 1). If people recycle books, newspaper and other reading

materials we can reuse paper in order to clean up the environment And save energy. Recycling is

important because everything reusable we use can be created into energy and can benefit to a lot
of people. Also it benefits and saves are natural resources. Also recycling can help reduce the

amount of material wasted into landfills. for example paper, plastic, glass, and aluminum.

Recycling should be mandatory because recycling helps the whole earth. Waste

prevention and recycling paper products allows more trees to remain standing where they can

continue to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere (Kings County 1). If we recycle many of

are trees would not get affected from harmful chemicals in are atmosphere. Using recycling

materials to make new products reduces the need for virgin materials (King County 1). We can

reuse used materials instead of wasting energy to make new products. Recycling can help the

earth and are surrounding if we keep recycling we can create and use new materials.

When people recycle it decreases the amount of pollution in their environment. From the

collection of materials to selling them recycling businesses needs varying degrees for skilled and

semi skilled employees to perform recycling industry jobs (Leblanc 1). Jobs that the recycling

industries will create won’t require a college degree or much skill.solid waste management is a

high mechanized process that is achieved with a modest amount of labor. Recycling on the other

hand can be much more labor intensive (Leblanc 1). Recycling takes more work work than just

throwing it away but the end result will keep our environment cleaner. If we recycle the whole

earth and the atmosphere would be safe and the environment. Recycling can help save our

natural resources and reduce our waste.

Recycling should be mandatory because it creates more jobs. Recycling materials use

through waste preventions and increasing material efficiency through products redesign have a
greatest beneficial impact on climate change (Sheehan 1). This reveals that over time products

that are being reduced have been redesigned to be stronger to avoid having to make new

materials. Wasting materials causes massive amount of energy to be used to extract and

manufacture natural resources replacement materials (Sheehan 1). Many waste material can be

used in order to make energy. Also creates reusable items. When people throw away reusable

material they don’t think that the material they are throwing away saves energy to light up their

city and their country.

Making recycling mandatory would increase the job force. More importantly waste

prevention and recycling reduces greenhouse gases by saving trees that makes up carbon dioxide

(Sheehan 1). Recycling and waste preventions saves trees and people need trees in order to

breath. Recycling a ton of paper saves about 24 trees which absorbs 250 pounds of carbon

dioxide from the air each year (Sheehan 1). If paper keeps on recycling being recycled by the

people many trees can be saved from chemicals on the atmosphere. Recycling can reduce

greenhouse gases because the more waste material there is the more energy and creation can be

made.

People should realize there are more jobs within the recycling industries. The recycling

industry compares favorably to heavy industries such as automobiles manufacturing (Colorado

Association For Recycling 1). For example the people who are responsible for cleaning up the

environment are just as importing as the people who are messing up our environment. The list of

potentially recyclable materials is lengthy and could be more so with government support
(Colorado Association For Recycling 1). This quote is supporting that if the government become

more involved with recycling we can more than glass, plastic, paper and cardboard. If everyone

reunite as one we could make and manufacture new inventions and could reuse instead of

throwing materials away.
