COURSE SYLLABUS

Course Title: COMMUNITY HEALTH DEVELOPOMENT

Course Description: Community health development is a course offered to BSN 3 students. This courses the concepts in community nursing. It gives an overview
of the functions of a nurse in the community setting, the role of hospital in the community and the programs of the department of Health. It
enables the students to interpret vital information in a community and conduct mini researches. It also emphasize on community organization
and participation (COPAR) and social mobilization.

Credit: 3 units (54 lecture hours)

Placement : Third Year, First Semester

Pre-requisite: PHC I& II,NCM 100

General Objectives: At the end of the course, the students will be able to:

1. Apply the concepts and principles of Primary Health Care in the context of Community Health Nursing.
2. Assess the health condition of the individual /family /population group/community considering the environmental, political and economic
situation.
3. Identify health needs of the individual /family population group/community using the standard tools and methodologies
4. Observe bioethical principles and the core values (love, of god, love of country of people)
5. Relate effectively with others in work situations related to nursing and health.
