Call for Nominations

Gold Family Graduate Fellowship Competition 2019


The USC Dornsife Office of Graduate Programs is pleased to invite nominations
for the Gold Family Graduate Fellowship competition. Recipients of this
prestigious fellowship will receive a summer stipend of $5,000 to pursue
research related to their dissertation. Gold Family Fellows will be chosen by a
panel of senior faculty on the basis of extraordinary academic promise.
Candidates are eligible only if they have passed their qualifying exams and
are at the beginning of their dissertation research. There will be a limited
number of these Fellowships awarded for the summer of 2019.

Fellows will be required to submit a report and a thank-you letter to the USC
Dornsife Office of GPE in September 2019.

Nominations: Departments may nominate up to two students. Files should be
collected by the department and electronically submitted to Kimberly Allen at
allenk@dornsife.usc.edu by March 8, 2019.

Each submission should include in PDF form:
• Completed cover sheet (attached)
• 1 or 2 page letter from the student explaining the research topic and the
value of the research in a larger context
• Current STARS report (copy all text to Word and save as PDF)
• Statement of support from the faculty advisor
• Short letter from the department chair/program director confirming
departmental approval and ranking the applicants if there is more than
one

If selected as a recipient of this prestigious fellowship, I understand that:
• No contemporaneous employment is permitted during the period of this award
• I will be required to submit a report and thank you letter no later than 30 days after the
completion of the award period
• I am expected to focus solely on my research for the period of the award
• I am expected to make every effort to attend a luncheon with other award recipients after
the conclusion of the award period
