Lesson Plan in Teaching Reading (Context Clues)

Objectives: At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:


1 .define context clues;
2. locate words that give hints about its meaning in the sentence;
3. use the word into a meaningful sentence.
Subject Matter and Materials:
Main Text : “Why The Sky is High”
Materials:
 Photocopied Text Cartolina Strips
 Manila Paper
 Pen
 Pictures
Procedure:
A. Pre-reading

Activity 1: PICTURE PROCESS

The teacher will post two different pictures, first is the is reachable (low) and the
second one is unreachable (high).The teacher will then process the answer of the
students.
Activity 2: CHOOSE ME! Think Pair Share !
The students will look for a partner. From the given choices, they will answer the meaning of
underlined words and explain to their partners how they come up with the answer.

The teacher will read aloud the text, then students will answer the questions from the graphic
organizer.

C. Post Reading

1. Activity by group; the students will be given another set of text, they will be divided into 5
groups. Each group will identify the unfamiliar words in the text, they will identify the hint
then use it in a sentence.

The students will be ask to dramatize, what they will do to help protect the ozone layer. They will be
rated through a rubric.
