Hero Written Response

Review your original ideas about heroes (in your notebook and journal) and your answers to
the questions in class. Now, take your ideas and turn them into a personal response on
heroism that you will submit for marks. You need to do this in 5 paragraphs – an
introduction, 3 body paragraphs and a conclusion.

Your ideas within the paragraph should flow, rather than sounding as though you are
answering questions “point by point”. The following questions are suggested as a guide for
how you might wish to structure your response:

Introduction: Who you originally indicated as heroes, and the characteristics they possess.
How your views may have changed.

Body Paragraph 1: Detail on characteristics and actions of a hero.

Body Paragraph 2: Two examples of heroes (real or from the literature we have studied)
and why they are heroic.

Body Paragraph 3: Ways that you could be more heroic

Conclusion: wrap it up; restate what you have learned , and leave your reader with
something to think about.
