T he Australian War Memorial is the
national memorial to all men and
women who have served in the military
forces during conflict. It is also one of the
most significant museums of its type in
the world, telling the story of all Australians
during wartime – on the home front and in
all forms of service.
The Memorial is located at the northern
end of an uninterrupted vista through to
Parliament House. This lies on the central
land axis in Griffin’s design, which runs from
Mt Ainslie, through Capital Hill to Bimberi
Peak, the highest mountain in the ACT.
