CURRICULUM of COMPETENCY UNIT (CoCU)

Sub Sector INDUSTRIAL ELECTRONICS

Job Description / Area ELECTRONIC PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Competency Unit Title PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER (PLC) PROGRAMMING

A programmable logic controller (PLC) or programmable controller is a digital computer used for the automation of an electro mechanical
processes, such as control of machinery on factory assembly lines, amusement rides, or light fixtures. Unlike general-purpose computers,
Competency Unit
the PLC is designed for multiple inputs and output arrangements, extended temperature ranges, immunity to electrical noise, and resistance
Descriptor
to vibration and impact. This competency unit will ensure personnel that they will be able to draw flowcharts, perform PLC programming and
conduct functionality tests.
