SOCIOLOGY 277: REFLECTIVE ESSAY 2 FALL 2018: DUE DECEMBER 15TH

Unlike the first essay assignment, this time you are to reflect upon your experience working in a
group project/presentation. This involves responding to the questions below in three parts.
PART I, you will respond to questions where you reflect on your group presentation. PART II
asks you to respond to questions where you reflect on your participation in your groups’
presentation. Finally, PART III asks you to evaluate your participation and your group
members’ participation on several dimensions. You may complete answers to Part I and II on
this worksheet as formatted or on a separate sheet as an essay with the questions being a
guideline for your responses. Part III should be completed in the format presented on page three
of this document. Your responses can be single or double-spaced. Please use 12 point font. On
the first page at the top your reflection should include the following: Your name, Reflection Essay
2, Sociology 277 and the date. The assignment is to be completed by the end of the reading period,
which is Saturday, December 15th. The essay must be a stapled hard copy with the honor code
signed. It should be placed outside my office door (King 301-A) by 5pm.

PART II: REFLECTIONS ON YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE PRESENTATION:

(6) Now, think about your participation, name at least one thing that you think you did well
during your part of the presentation. Explain.

(7) Name at least one thing that you were not happy with about your presentation.

(8) What did you learn from this experience?

(9) What would you do differently, if given the opportunity?

(10) Do you have any final words about the group project/presentation?
 PART III: EVALUATION OF GROUP WORK

Please assess the work of you and your colleagues by using the criteria in the table. I will consider your
feedback as part of assigning the final grade for the project. Please try to be as honest and fair as possible
in your assessment. Write your name and the name of each of your group members in a separate column.
For each person, indicate the extent to which you agree with the statement on the left, using a
scale of 1-4 (1=strongly disagree; 2=disagree; 3=agree; 4=strongly agree). Total the numbers in
each column.
