COUNTABLE NOUNS

Los sustantivos contables son aquellos que se pueden contar: one pencil / two cats / three houses. Estos tienen
una forma plural: egg – eggs; dress – dresses.
UNCOUNTABLE NOUNS

Los sustantivos incontables son aquellos que no se pueden contar porque no pueden ser delimitados
individualmente ya queforman parte de un todo. Son tratados como singulares, es decir que no se pueden hacer
plurales añadiendo -s: salt, Wood, tea, wine, sugar, bread, furniture, hair, information, money, weather, time, rice.

En el momento en que los delimitamos, estos mismos nombres o sustantivos pasan a ser contables. Deberán ir
precedidos, si quieren individualizarse, de alguna palabra con valor partitivo: a gran of salt; a piece of wood; two
cups of tea; three glasses of wine.

SOME AND ANY

SOME
Normalmente some se utiliza en oraciones afirmativas: There is some pasta in the table. También se usa para
ofrecer o preguntar por algo: Would you like some tea?; Can I borrow some money?

ANY
Usualmente any se utiliza en oraciones negativas e interrogativas: They haven’t got any money; Do you need any
help?

A LITTLE, A FEW

Ambos significan “una pequeña cantidad”. Se utiliza a little con sustantivos incontables: Julia ate a little rice. En
cambio se usa a few con sustantivos plurals: Mike ate a few chips.
