1. INSTRUMENT DESCRIPTION
Sipper Unit
Aspiration Button
Printer: Prints out results when an analysis is completed and other information. It is a
Thermal printer with a standard 56 mm paper width.
Display: TFT color display with LED backlight for the User Interface. The display includes
the resistive touch screen layer.
Keyboard (optional): The instrument use the touch screen for user interaction. Therefore an external
keyboard can be connected in the rear panel if required. The keyboard must have
a PS/2 compatible connector.
Sipper unit: The sipper unit is made up of a plastic flexible tube and a rigid part. The plastic
tube is for aspirating sample/reagent mixture and cleaning solutions.
Aspiration Button: To aspirate a reagent sample, place the vessel containing the fluid under the
sipper tube. Ensure the tube is deep enough in the fluid to aspirate the necessary
amount. Push the button and the aspiration will start. The front aspiration button
includes an LED board with different color light capability to show the instrument

2. PARTS REPLACEMENT
WARNING: Any service to the instrument must be done with the instrument completely disconnected
from the main power supply. Turning off the instrument is not enough. Please remove the power cord
from the instrument before any service.
2.2. CUVETTE
2.3. LAMP
NOTE: Lamps modules for this instruments are made and calibrated by the manufacturer. Do not try to
replace the lamp only in this module. This will lead to possible reading problems.
Remove the 3 screws (A) in the top of the lamp module. Remove the lamp connector (B) from the
“Drivers Board” and remove the old lamp module. Insert a new lamp module in its place, rotate the lamp
module if needed. The position of holes are specially made to keep the correct position of the lamp
filament. Only one correct position is allowed. Fix the new lamp module with the original screws.
WARNING: Filters calibration is required before the normal use of the instrument with real samples.
Proceed with the filters calibration procedure explained later in this manual.

2.5. FILTER
To replace one or more optical filters you must remove the filters wheel cover
first (A).
A label (B) in the filter wheel identify the filter wavelength. Move the
filter that need to be replaced in front of the removing tool (C). B
Push the removing tool (C) gently until the filter is out of its place.
Replace the old filter with the new one with the same optical filter D
wavelength. NOTE: pay attention to the direction of the filter. In the filter
there is a small arrow (D). This arrow must be the direction of the light
from the source (the lamp) to the sample. The arrow must point to the
sample flow cuvette.
WARNING: Filters calibration is required before the normal use of the instrument with real samples.
Proceed with the filters calibration procedure explained later in this manual.

An instrument calibration is required every time an important part of the photometer is replaced by a new
one. It can be the Flow Cell, the Lamp, the Optical Sensor Board, and an optical filter.
NOTE: even if the filter is not successfully calibrated, it is nevertheless possible to work with the
instrument and use the other filters. In the event that certain filters are not calibrated, it is advisable to
perform flushing of the cuvette with distilled water and suitable detergents, and leave distilled water inside
the cuvette for at least an hour. Afterwards, repeat the filter calibration procedure.

The instrument includes a main “PC board” with the system and the User’s Interface software. In the
“Drivers Board” there is an embedded microprocessor with it own driving firmware. The internal
instrument software and the Drivers Board firmware can be updated at any time if needed.
The upgrade procedure require only a standard USB drive key and the encoded update file. The USB key
must be formatted with a FAT file system. The instrument update file must be the only one present in the
USB key.
There are 2 different update procedure available. Automatic and Manual methods. The manual method
can be used if the instrument system do not recognize the USB key during the startup.
Put the USB key with the update file in one of the USB connectors available in the rear panel. Turn on the
instrument. The instrument system will recognize the USB key in the back and an internal instrument
software will start the update procedure automatically. Based on the update file requirements, the
software, the firmware or both will be updated.
If, for any reason, the automatic update procedure fail or the USB key is not recognized during the
instrument system startup, remove the USB key, then put it back again in one of the USB connectors
available in the rear panel, wait at least 5-10 seconds then run the manual software update command
form the instrument software menu.
The update software will run with the update file present
in the USB key.

- Check the aspiration volume
Aspiration volume is changed - Change the peristaltic cardrige
or don’t arrive over the flow cell - Check the calibration volume in the set up page,
section “pump”
Kinetic analysis are very high - Check the factor and the reagent and sample
or very low volume.
- Check the temperature of the flow cell in the
upper right side of the monitor during analysis
- Change the reagent
Imprecision in Replication tests - Check replication reading using the same
solution.
- Cuvette is dirty and need to clean the flow cell
with detergent or ipochlorite solution
