MID DAY MEAL SCHEME-CASE STUDY OF BIHAR
i. To provide hot cooked Mid-day Meal to each and every child attending
Government/Government aided Schools, EGS and AIE centers, NCLP including Maqtabs
and Madarsas.
In Bihar from 1995 to 2002, 3kg dry ration was given to each child per month under the
scheme. In 2003-04 cooked meal was introduced in 2532 schools as a pilot project covering
30 blocks of 10 different districts. From January 2005 hot cooked meal was being provided to
all the primary schools across the state including different learning centers. In February 2008
Mid-day Meal was extended to upper primary level, thus covering all the children from Class
I-VIII. Mid-day meal scheme is successfully running in 70,238 schools across the state
covering more than 10 millions children from class I to VIII.

that mid-day meal schemes is an essential step taken towards the nutrition of youth in
Bihar.
that some flaws needs to be removed in order for this programme to run efficiently.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
In this project Doctrinal Method will be used. Doctrinal Methods refer to Library research,
research or processes done upon some texts writings or Documents, legal propositions and
Doctrines, Articles, Books as well as Online Research and Journals relating to the subject.
SOURCES OF STUDY
There are various hindrances which can be faced by the researcher during the formation of this
project such as scarcity of time, expensive legal materials for various research works, research
done by an individual.
