I. Identification. Identify the parts of a memo and business letter given the brief description.
____________________1. Contains the reader’s name and job title, list others who are receiving copies,
your name and job title, the date and the subject.
____________________2. Gives the context of the issue, the suggested assignment or task, and the
purpose of the memo.
____________________3. Sums up the methods and sources used therefore brief and does not
needlessly repeat detailed information.
____________________4. Lays out all the details that support the ideas discussed, recommendations,
future problems that might occur and suggestions.
____________________5. Describes the actions to take and how those actions will benefit everyone.
____________________6. The additional information or documents needed to come to their own
understanding of the event, issue, or problem described.
____________________ 7. The return address with the date on the last line; line is skipped between the
address and date.
____________________ 8. The address you are sending your letter to, complete as possible, including
the titles and names, a line is skipped after the heading before the inside address and another line after
the inside address before the greeting.
____________________ 9. Normally begins with the word "Dear", includes the person's last name, title
and always ends in a colon
