Winning Piece

The youth all over the world have always been the instrument of change and progress. Young,
physically strong, minds receptive to new ideas, hearts that throb with compassion and idealism, free to
think and act, impatient and reckless, the youth have always pushed humanity toward new frontiers.

This, presumably, is the reason behind this worthwhile endeavour of the Municipal Government
of Victoria, the launching of an oratorical contest exploring the role of the youth to a growing population
for the preservation of the natural resources and to combat the worsening impact of global warming and
climate change to agriculture and to mankind in general.

While we are amidst the dilemma of population explosion causing poverty and pollution, we
have no reason to stop striving and strengthen our cope up mechanisms to defeat various threatening
problems as a result of population explosion. Instead, let us create awareness and take action in our
community, in our world.

Yes, we can’t deny the fact nor even escape the reality that the world is in a very critical
condition nowadays. Due to the continuous devastation of our mountains and forests, rivers, seas and
lakes, and of other natural resources because of different illegal activities, and the worst, of the peoples’
lack of concern to the environment, we are now faced to a nearly dying and unsafe world.

Now that our country and the world are easily vulnerable to the impact of climate change and
global warming, let us actively involve to healing and re-making of the world. Let us build a better world.
Remember, we have no other place to go, other than this beautiful Planet Earth.

In our hands, my fellow youth, lay the safety, peace and progress in the world! But how?

The answer is simple. We are strong and dynamic! This is worth emulating! Young as we are, if
we can create awareness and take the lead of serving mankind and take action in carrying out activities,
our elders will be proud of us and will feel happy and confident that they will leave this world with
people like us who are willing to take care of Mother Earth and to serve humanity.

Today, I express my commitment of loving and caring for the Mother Earth. Fellow youth, please
do not hesitate to act and rally for this noble intention towards re-making our world.

Let us support the multifarious programs and activities of our Municipal Government and of the
Department of Education that encourage the school officials, teachers, students and the entire
community, to respond to the threats of climate change and global warming.

Let us solicit the participation of everybody to address these problems.

Let us become examples to our family and community.

Let us give love and concern to Mother Earth and to the humanity.

Above all, for young and old alike, let us share sense of responsibility and instil in us
commitment, so that the success would never be far behind.
The Earth is in our HANDS. Let’s SAVE it ALTOGETHER!
