Chapter 1

History
Cupcake is a delicious dish which was originated in United State. It was like a small version of
cake and it has a topping on it based on what people want to like. On the other hand youju is a
korean word for ampalaya and it is a common vegetable in the Philippines. It has been known to
its bitter taste and it is one of the best prevention of a disease like diabetes, high cholesterol, and
obesity. According to Philippine Department of Health, Ampalaya increases the production of
beta cells by the pancreas, thereby improving the body's ability to produce insulin, that controls
the blood sugar for diabetics. Ampalaya are sources of vitamin B, Iron, Calcium and phosphorus.
It is also rich in betacarotene. Ampalaya is used as herbal treatment for diabetes, parasiticide,
antipyretic and as purgative among others. Ampalaya or Yeoju originated in the Old World and
was first domesticated in eastern India and southern China. The slave trade brought ampalaya
from Africa to Brazil, and that dispersal by birds is responsible for its spread within continents.
Throughout the tropics, it is now wide-spread.Therefore, it has a 3-11 cm long and 2-4 cm wide;
spiny and warty or almost smooth, pale yellow green to very dark green color. Bitterness is
attributed to non-toxic alkaloid momordicine.

Soju is a popular Korean alcoholic beverage that is distilled from rice. It is the drink of choice in
Korea, China, and Japan. According to the team led by Dr. Bae Hee-jun at Seoul National
University Hospital in Bundang they have found that at least one drink of this alcohol per day
helped prevent strokes.

Project Backround
This study is to taste and experience the american dessert with a new twist of taste to enjoy it.
We add bitter gourd and a korean ingredients “Soju” . It is also about promoting a typical kind of
prevention to a many kind of disease. This concept is already available in the market from other
countries and in very few parts of the Philippines. But we create our own version of cupcake and
also to keep up with the trends, it came up to our mind to add a korean word and even mixed a
korean ingredients. Our yeoju cupcake is made from bitter gourd but unlike the other cupcake we
made this less-sugar but we add more-ampalaya and a little drop of soju. Due to its bitter taste of
the bitter gourd many people don’t like to eat ampalaya even though it is healthy. But the
purpose of this product is for those people who don’t like to eat bitter gourd like for those people
who loved to explore something new and also for those people who are health conscious.

Objectives of the Study.

The objective of the study is to help the future generation to prevent the increasing of the
diseases in our country. And it may help to know the importance of the Ampalaya and soju what
good benefits and use of it. This is our specific objectives:
*To gain deeper knowledge about the importance of ampalaya.
*To satisfy the customer needs and taste.
*To decreased the number of diseases in the country

Scope of Market Study


This study of the “Sweet Yeoju Cupcake” is restricted to Brgy. Pulo, City of Cabuyao, Laguna
and we will be based on marketing and technical aspect of the business. Students, tricycle driver of
PulTODA ( Pulo TODA) and the employed who work in the area of Brgy. Pulo, City of Cabuyao, Laguna
will be covered as part of the respondents. The product will be dessiminated through direct selling and
orders are also accepted from the customer within in Brgy. Pulo, City of Cabuyao, Laguna from those
who are willing to purchase our product.
Chapter 2
Marketing Aspect
Introduction
All age is the target market, professional or not, male or female and people of different
walk of life. But one of our major target markets is the students that are studying within our area.
Because most of the students nowadays love to eat food especially the sweet one and it serves as
their stress reliever from the things they got on studying and to be more attractive to the students
we add Korean theme in our product. Also the traveler that is passing-by through that area are
also included as the potential target market and most especially the people within a healthy
conscious and those who love to eat sweet foods.

Research Design
The researchers used the descriptive design and applied using survey questionnaires and key
informant interview. The survey was conducted by providing a questionnaire to a number of
identified respondents in the area of Brgy. Pulo, City of Cabuyao,Laguna. The participants who
were asked to evaluate the cupcake during the survey were randomly selected from identified
respondents. The survey was supported by using an interview guide questioners.

Location of the project


The product will be launched at Brgy. Pulo, Cabuyao City, Laguna which contained a total
population of 8,057.
