Hosea Chapter 12 ���

� ‫הֹו‬
‫ ּו�ב�מ �ר�מה‬,‫א �ס�ב�ב �ני �ב���חׁש �א���ר �ים‬ 1 Ephraim compasseth Me about with
lies, and the house of Israel with
-‫ ��ד �רד ��ם‬,‫��ית �י���ר�אל; �ויהּו�דה‬ deceit; and Judah is yet wayward
.‫ �נ�א�מן‬,‫�קדֹו�ׁשים‬-‫ �ו��ם‬,‫�אל‬ towards God, and towards the Holy
One who is faithful.

--‫ �ו�ר�דף �ק�דים‬,‫ב �א���ר �ים �ר��ה רּו�ח‬ 2 Ephraim striveth after wind, and
followeth after the east wind; all the
‫ ���זב �ו�ׁשד �י �ר��ה; ּו�ב �רית‬,‫�הּיֹום‬-‫��ל‬ day he multiplieth lies and desolation;
‫ �ו�ׁש�מן �ל�מ���ר �ים‬,‫�אּׁשּור �י���רתּו‬-‫��ם‬ and they make a covenant with
.‫יּו�בל‬ Assyria, and oil is carried into Egypt.

‫ �יהּו�דה; �ו�ל���קד‬-‫ ��ם‬,‫ג �ו �ריב �ליה�וה‬ 3 The LORD hath also a controversy
with Judah, and will punish Jacob
‫ ���מ���ל�ליו �י�ׁשיב‬,‫�י���קב ���ד�ר��יו‬-‫��ל‬ according to his ways, according to his
.‫לֹו‬ doings will He recompense him.

,‫�א�חיו; ּו�באֹונֹו‬-‫ ���קב �את‬,‫ד �����טן‬ 4 In the womb he took his brother by
the heel, and by his strength he strove
.‫�אֹל�הים‬-‫���רה �את‬ with a godlike being;

‫ ����ה‬,‫�מ�ל�אְך �וּי���ל‬-‫ה �ו�ּי��ר �אל‬ 5 So he strove with an angel, and

prevailed; he wept, and made
,‫ �ו�ׁשם‬,‫ �י�מ���אּנּו‬,‫�אל‬-‫לֹו; ��ית‬-‫�ו�ּי�ת�ח�ּנן‬ supplication unto him; at Beth-el he
.‫�י�ד��ר ����נּו‬ would find him, and there he would
speak with us;

,‫ �יה�וה‬--‫ �אֹל�הי �ה���באֹות‬,‫ו �ויה�וה‬ 6 But the LORD, the God of hosts, the
LORD is His name.
.‫�ז��רֹו‬
‫ ��אֹל�היָך �תׁשּוב; �ח�סד‬,‫ז �ו�א��ה‬ 7 Therefore turn thou to thy God; keep
mercy and justice, and wait for thy
‫�אֹל�היָך‬-‫ �ו�ק�ּוה �אל‬,‫ּו�מ�ׁש��ט �ׁש�מר‬ God continually.

‫�ל���ׁשק‬--‫ ���ידֹו מ �א�ז�ני �מ �ר�מה‬,‫ח ���נ��ן‬ 8 As for the trafficker, the balances of
deceit are in his hand. He loveth to
.‫�א�הב‬ oppress.

,‫�אְך ���ׁש �ר��י‬--‫ט �וּי �א�מר �א���ר �ים‬ 9 And Ephraim said: 'Surely I am
become rich, I have found me wealth;
‫ ל �א‬,‫ �י��י��י‬-‫�מ��א�תי אֹון �לי; ��ל‬ in all my labours they shall find in me
.‫�ח�טא‬-‫�לי �� �ון �א�ׁשר‬-‫�י�מ��אּו‬ no iniquity that were sin.'

‫ �מ�א�רץ‬,‫י �ו�א �נ��י �יה�וה �אֹל�היָך‬ 10 But I am the LORD thy God from
the land of Egypt; I will yet again
‫ ��י�מי‬,‫�מ���ר �ים; ��ד אֹו�ׁשי�בָך �ב�א�ה�לים‬ make thee to dwell in tents, as in the
.‫מֹו��ד‬ days of the appointed season.

,‫ �ו�א �נ��י‬,‫�ה�ּנ�בי�אים‬-‫ ��ל‬,‫יא �ו�ד�� �ר��י‬ 11 I have also spoken unto the
prophets, and I have multiplied
,‫�חזֹון �ה �ר��י�תי; ּו�ב�יד �ה�ּנ�בי�אים‬ visions; and by the ministry of the
.‫�א�ד��ה‬ prophets have I used similitudes.

,‫�ׁש �וא �היּו‬-‫���ל��ד �א�ון �אְך‬-‫יב �אם‬ 12 If Gilead be given to iniquity

becoming altogether vanity, in Gilgal
‫�����ל��ל �ׁש�ו �רים �ז��חּו; ��ם �מ�ז��חֹו�תם‬ they sacrifice unto bullocks; yea, their
.‫ ��ל ���ל�מי ���די‬,‫������ים‬ altars shall be as heaps in the furrows
of the field.

‫ ���דה �א�רם; �ו�ּי���בד‬,‫יג �ו�ּי�ב�רח �י���קב‬ 13 And Jacob fled into the field of
Aram, and Israel served for a wife, and
.‫ ּו�ב�א�ּׁשה �ׁש�מר‬,‫�י���ר�אל ���א�ּׁשה‬ for a wife he kept sheep.

‫ �י���ר�אל‬-‫ �ה���לה �יה�וה �את‬,‫יד ּו�ב�נ�ביא‬ 14 And by a prophet the LORD

brought Israel up out of Egypt, and by
.‫ �נ�ׁש�מר‬,‫�מ�����ר �ים; ּו�ב�נ�ביא‬ a prophet was he kept.

;‫ ���מרּו �רים‬,‫טו �ה����יס �א���ר �ים‬ 15 Ephraim hath provoked most

bitterly; therefore shall his blood be
‫ �י�ׁשיב‬,‫ �ו�ח �ר��תֹו‬,‫ ���ליו �יּטֹוׁש‬,‫�ו�ד�מיו‬ cast upon him, and his reproach shall
.‫לֹו �א�ד�ניו‬ his Lord return unto him.
