A prototype, designed to identify the
electronic waste generated in India.
Electronic waste, commonly known as e-waste is the popular name given to electronic products
nearing or at the end of its useful life. E-waste in short is a generic term embracing various forms of
electric and electronic equipment that have ceased to be of any value to their owners. Electronic

waste or e-waste is one of the emerging problems in developed and developing countries
worldwide. It comprises of a multitude of components with valuable materials, some containing
toxic substances, that can have an adverse impact on human health and the environment.

The design was made thinking on a broader line; but in the process of product development and
making, there were different aditions made which gave a different look to what it was explored Design process
in the exploration stage. While dismantling the CPU, the parts which were cut off and left aside,
gave me new ideas to upcycle it and hence was reused in the prototype itself (for eg.; the pen
stand was made with the plastic covers that were cut to make removable shelves on the side of Collection of e-waste
CPU). This was one of my learning outcome while designing the book shelf out of electronic waste.
