Lifting Gear Survey
Safe and successful lifting operations depend, in large
part, on the continued safety of the lifting equipment and
accessories that are used. Failures in this kind of
equipment can result in significant or even fatal injuries.
Health and safety law therefore places a number of
specific obligations on those providing, controlling and
using lifting equipment to properly manage these risks.
17
Offshore Pedestal Crane Inspection / Testing
• Pedestal cranes inspection subjected to visual inspection at six monthly
intervals in line with the API RP 2D, as well as other international standards
where applicable.
18
Derrick Inspection and Remedial– API RG 4G
• Qualified personnel will carry out a Derrick Inspection (Category III) survey
in line with API RP 4G and also carry out Derrick Remedial as required
• Category III inspections focus on load-bearing components and members to
determine the condition of the mast/derrick and substructure.
• Bolt checks - if required carried out with Rope Access qualified inspectors
• Steel and Bolt Supply as per requirement / Grade available
19
Rig Wide Dropped Object Survey (DROPS)
• Objects falling from heights remain one of the most common causes of offshore accidents.
• Number of dropped object from derricks are increasing as rig matures and amount of
redundant material on them increases
• Tubestar can help prevent potential dropped object becoming another unwelcome safety
statistic by conducting a detailed dropped object survey of hazardous areas.
• Any potential dropped objects are reported and wherever possible, the risk is rectified at
the time.
• Compile inventory of all potential drops items in the work areas with comprehensive
photographic reporting along with corrective actions recommendations

䇾Tubetrack䇿 Innovative Reporting
Solutions
• Tubetrack is used for tracking the history of tubular and which can help client
to monitor the condition of its tubular at any point of time.
• Tubetrack is an online web based system which can be accessed from
anywhere and does not need installation on the client's computer.
• Traditional form of giving reports doesn䇻t allow the client to have a look at
previous inspection records instantly and it becomes difficult for him to track
on the deterioration of the tubular happening over a period of time..
• The heart of Tubetrack lies in the different type of reports that it is able to
generate. The client at any point of time can find out how many tubular are
currently due for inspection or he can even check how many tubular are
getting due for inspection in a particular month. This way he can plan and
schedule his inspection program.
• Tubetrack also has query based reports wherein one can key in the criteria's
and based on that criteria's list of tubular matching the criteria's are displayed.
This can be really helpful in planning for purchases of new tubular and also
for the Rig managers to check on which all pipes he can use and which all are
on borderline of rejection which he can keep separate and use it if necessary.
26
Tubetrack
A Comprehensive Online Reporting
System
History
“Tubetrack” was conceived as an alternate reporting format to
help the Industry keep track of its tubular in a much efficient
manner, the Industry with its challenges on day to day basis had
to have information instant which saves COST for all involved.
28
Tubetrack features…
• Web based reporting system for Drill pipe / Drill collar / HWDP / Lifting Gear
and Drops Survey
• Rig personnel can download signed reports and help in managing paperwork
• Exhaustive query based reporting to find out pipes matching certain criteria
– this can help inventory planning i.e. purchase of new tubular

RIG INSPECTION
44
Rig Inspection
• Rig inspection is a critical component in drilling a well and it is an integral part
of preparation to spud a well
• Proper and appropriate rig inspections before acceptance of the rig, before
the well is spud and follow up surveys during operations are critical to reduce
downtime, increase reliability and safety and allow adequate environmental
management and further to reduce NPT time related costs
45
Rig Inspection
• Tubestar gained the rig inspection experience through a tie-up with Fact-O-
Rig for the last 5 years
46
Rig Inspection
• TubeStar Rig Inspection has the following range of inspection services:
– Conditional survey (full conditional survey that provides accurate insight of the equipment
status and condition and working systems)
– Fit for Purpose Acceptance Survey (depending upon the Client’s objective, a fit for purpose
survey confirms the functionality of the rig, systems, polices and procedures)
– Upgrade and New Construction (to be part of the Clients to ensure that the rig upgrade or
new construction complies with all safety and operations standards)
– Compliance and Functionality Survey (to evaluate the compliance of the rig equipment,
procedures and policies to the international acceptable standards and to conform the
functionality of the equipment according to the standards and design)
– Value Evaluation and Selection Survey (to evaluate and value a rig for the purpose of either
selling or purchasing as well as for banks/financial institutes to grant project loans and also to
rank the rigs to create options to choose or select)
Note:
As part of rig inspection, Tubestar also can combine the DROPS survey
47
Rig Inspection
• Process Check and Integrity Assessment
Through our partners..
– This is one of the most critical aspect for drilling and delivering a reliable well
– This survey is developed by one of the most experienced industry person (especially after the
Macondo incident in GOM) that provides a complete survey on the process (in addition to all
the surveys on equipment) along with a complete integrity assessment of the Rig’s Well
Control and High Pressure Systems.
– The survey is based on an Unique Model called “Well Reliability” and is provided only by
Tubestar currently
– The model understands the gaps existing between the condition of the equipment,
appropriateness and conformance of the equipment, integration of the equipment to process
and procedures, competence of personnel to implement the systems and assess the overall
integrity of the Well Control and High Pressure Systems
Note:
If required, a separate presentation can be made on the above by the Expert who developed this
model
