WORK EXPERIENCE

Currently working in School of Public Health, SRM University, joined on 1st June,
2010.

Role: Research officer (Coordinating two Studies)

 School of Public Health, SRM University in collaboration with UNICEF

conducting a Project (Identification and Mapping of Excluded Communities (SC,
ST, FSW, PLHIV, Leprates, Transgender, In –Migrants, Nomads and Linguistic
Minorities) in Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri and Salem Districts of Tamil Nadu) using
GIS.
 Study on Impact of an ad campaign sponsored by the Department of
Public Health and Preventive Medicine and funded through the
International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease.

Achievements till now:

11 Segregated secondary data from the census, NFHS and DHLS for
the three districts and analyzed and used the information for planning.
2. Planned and conducted field visits and collected the data.
11 Data management is done by using the MS Excel and MS Word
and analyzed and prepared data matrix for the three districts.
 11 Liasoning with Unicef Consultants, block coordinators (UNICEF
and Government) and field NGO’s of the respective three districts of the
project.
11 Organised three district workshops in Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri
and Salem on Excluded Communities.
11 Conducted 12 Focus Group Discuss (FDG’S) and 5 Interview
Depth Interview (IDI’’s) with the marginalized to find the exclusion among
the marginalised communities.
11 Working with the secondary data of DLHS 1, 2 and 3 and NFHS 1,
2 and 3, analysed and written a report to find out the MGD’s 1, 4 and 5 for
the three districts for the project.
11 Coordinator for Data Management (Epi Info and SPSS) for the
study on Impact of an ad campaign sponsored by the Department of
Public Health and Preventive Medicine and funded through the
International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease.
11 Analysis (using SPSS), Interpretation and report writing for the
two projects above mentioned.

Duration: December 22, 2009 to May 31, 2010.

Achievements:

1. Conceptualized, designed and conducted an explorative research study

“Serodiscordant couple: Intimate partner Violence in women in
Andhra Pradesh.”
2. Research protocol development and budgeting of the study and got clearance
from the SHARE India Ethics Review Board – Hyderabad.
3. Developed the tools and trained the research staff (Peer counselors) of
various ICTC in Andhra Pradesh.
4. Data management and quality control of the data collected from various
ICTCs in Andhra Pradesh.
5. Analyzed the Quantitative data using SPSS – 16 version and interpret the
results and wrote report, presented a paper on “Intimate Partner Violence
among Discordant Couples” and writing a paper for publication to a referred
journal.
6. Data quality check of the huge data sets of the APAIDSCON generated by the
various ICTCs.
7. Gained knowledge on the Public Health Research related to HIV.
8. Attended training on Qualitative research Methods conducted by Public
Health Management Institute.
 9. Compiled a document on “Intimate Partner Violence” which describes the
Literature regarding IPV.

II. Foundation for Research in Health Systems (FRHS), Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

1. Collected the data from the stakeholders and clients from ten Primary Health
Centers for “PHC Performance Management Project in Warangal
District, Andhra Pradesh.”

Activities:
1. Classify the client condition into ‘critical’, ‘Serious’ or ‘stable’ states and
Provide appropriate advice.
