To Whom It May Concern:

It is with great pleasure that I am able to introduce you to Stephanie Moore, a Resource
Center Writing Coach here at Reavis High School. I have known Stephanie in a professional
capacity for two years. During the 2017-2018 school year, Stephanie served as a long term
FMLA substitute teacher in an English classroom. She also did day to day subbing upon the
completion of that FMLA leave. For the 2018-2019 school year, I have also been her direct
supervisor as a full time writing coach as part of our Title I school-wide intervention
program. As a result of my experiences working with Stephanie, I would highly recommend
her for any position for which she in certified.

As a substitute teacher, I found Stephanie both responsible and reliable. Not only was she a
good communicator with administration and as an academic team member during her long
term FMLA subbing position, but she also developed strong relationships with her students.
Her sense of caring was apparent in the interactions I had the opportunity to observe.
During her time as a substitute teacher, we also trained Stephanie to serve as an ACCESS
test administrator. Our ELL coordinator and testing coordinator both found Stephanie’s
ability to organize and manage students and technology during this testing cycle laudable.

This year, Stephanie served as a critical member of our Title I team. As a writing coach, she
managed daily referrals to the writing lab to do individualized tutoring on English Language
Arts assignments. She also served as one of two coaches to deliver a student advocacy,
tutoring, and remediation program for at-risk freshmen and sophomores. In this role, she
managed weekly data on student successes and administered incentive programs for those
students. Other activities in which Stephanie has played a role include: serving on the SAT
Prep program team, aiding in hosting the SAT Prep Field Day incentive, pushing into
courses across the curriculum to coach writing skills, and serving as a speech competition
judge.

Although I know you will consider several fine candidates for your English positions,
Stephanie has accomplished many things as an individual new to her career. The amount of
experience she has gained regarding the development of intervention programs as a school
and in the classroom will undoubtedly make her an asset to any building. Please feel free to
contact me with any questions you may have about Stephanie’s work here at Reavis High
School.

Sincerely,

Heather M. McCurdy, Ed. D., NBCT
