Detailed Lesson Plan

February 20, 2019
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts, uses and
importance of Statistics, data collection/gathering and the different forms of data
representation, measures of central tendency, measures of variability, and probability.
B. Performance Standard: The learner is able to collect and organize data systematically
and compute accurately measures of central tendency and variability and apply these
appropriately in data analysis and interpretation in different fields.

C. Learning Competency: The learner will formulate a simple statistical instrument. The
learners will gather statistical data.
LC Code: M7SP-IVa-3. M7SP-IVb-1.
Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to make a simple
statistical instrument and will gather statistical data.
II. SUBJECT MATTER – Lesson 37: Statistics

III. Teaching/Learning Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities
 Prayer
 Greetings
 Checks assignment
B. Review
 What did we discussed yesterday?
C. Motivation (Data, Data!)
Instruction: Students will sing the song in the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle.

DATA, DATA
Data, Data What are you?
We COLLECT you, oh it’s true.
ANALYZE you that’s my plan
INTERPRET to understand
Data, Data what are you?
I’ll PRESENT you right on cue.

Activity 1: (Baby Boom!)

POPULAR BIRTH MONTHS

Month J F M A M J J A S O N D
Instruction: No. Of Gather the
birth months Students of everyone
in the class and
organize the data in the
table.

D. Analysis
Based on the activity;
1. In which month were most students in the class born?
2. In which month were the least number of students in the class born?
3. What can you conclude from the data?
E. Abstraction
Unlocking Difficulties
Data- the numerical values that the variables assume.

Data Collection- The first step in an investigation, research, or an inquiry.

Statistical instrument- is any process that aim at describing a phenomena by using any
instrument or device, however the results may be used as a control tool. Examples of
statistical instruments are questionnaire and surveys sampling.

When the sampling units are human beings, the main methods of collecting information are:

 face-to-face interviewing
 postal surveys
 telephone surveys
 direct observation.
 Internet
STEPS:
1. Decide on what you want to survey.
2. Generate your variables.
3. Choose your respondents.
4. Collect data from respondents.
5. Tally.
6. Input Data.
7. Make a conclusion.
IV. Generalization
What are the steps in making a simple statistical instrument?

Values Integration:

Is it important for us to collect data? Why?

V. Evaluation
Instruction: Make your own simple statistical instrument and gather statistical data from your
classmate.

Assignment - ½ cw
Make your own simple statistical instrument and gather statistical data from your community.
