VIII. CONCLUSION

After careful analysis, Mr. Paragas therefore conclude that ACA#2- “Set priorities

and properly allocate time for his business activities” is the best solution to the problem

of Paragas Farm Machineries. By setting his priorities right, he believes that he could

improve his profits, monitor every activity and utilise his time effectively and efficiently.

Choosing this, he will be more focused that he can carry out his tasks and goals in the

right direction.

1. Set priorities for business activities

a. Prioritize business planning and operations

b. Eliminate religious activities during business hours

c. Lessen other activities

2. Allocate time according with the set priorities

a. Increase the allocated time for operations by 5%.

b. Increase the time allotted for business planning by 10%.

c. Time allotment with subordinates will increase by 5%

d. Other activities shall be decreased up to 5%

% OF BUSINESS TIME % OF BUSINESS TIME

ACTIVITY
ENGAGED (Before) ENGAGED (Now)
Overseeing Operations 40% 45%
Attending social activities 10% 10%
Attending religious activities 10% 0%
Part- time teaching 5% 5%
Conferring Subordinates 10% 15%
Business Planning 10% 20%
Other Activities 15% 5%
TOTAL 100% 100%

The two alternatives were not chosen though these are good strategies, because

in ACA #1, he will have a hard time coping up with the new timetable easily and business

planning must be done by the top management as well. In ACA #2, delegating work to

others which Mr. Paragas should be responsible with may not be that effective.

IX. MANAGEMENT LESSONS

1. Planning. It is an essential function to anticipate the future and determine the

best courses of action to achieve company’s objectives.

2. Organizing. The management should indicate who will perform the designed

structure of tasks in the organization.

3. Controlling. The management assures efficient performance to attain the

enterprise objectives.

4. Drive and Risk Taking. An entrepreneur needs to be totally committed and

willing to work long hours and prefer tasks which provide him.

5. Management Concern. The organization should identify those activities which

are necessary to reach organizational goals.
