A. Symptom:
A device, which is suffering from the problem described in this TIB, will show Error Codes “C-
D011” / “C-D050” / “C-FA14” after turning ON the Main Power Switch or when the MFP recovers
from Power Save Mode.
• C-D011 Î Hard Disk equipment not within specification

• C-D055 Î HDD Recovery Timeout
• C-FA14 Î SATA Controller in maintenance mode. (USB_SATA program is abnormally)
Important Note:
Please be aware that Error Code “C-FA14” will be shown for different problems and only
C-FA14 where the detailed Error Code leads to HDD problems is valid for this problem.
(See Appendix – C-D011 / C-FA14 detailed Error Codes at Page 11of this TIB)

B. Cause:
• The garbled SATA Controller Data problem has been identified as a problem in the
firmware of the SATA Controller, which causes Error Codes “C-D011” / “C-D050”.
The problem appears when the following situation happens.
The SATA Controller loads the SATA Controller Program from Flash Memory, when Main
Power Switch will be turned ON or when the MFP is recovering from Power Saver Mode.
In case that SATA Controller Data are garbled a hash error will occur during program
loading and the SATA Controller switches to run in maintenance Mode.
(Under Normal condition the SATA Controller is running in Normal Mode)
In case the Controller is running in Maintenance Mode, the Firmware treats that in this
condition a ”non-KM HDD” is connected and the Error Code will be shown.
C-D011 Î In case of detection after Main Power Switch is turned to ON

C-D055 Î In case of detection after wake up from Power Save Mode.
Important Note:
• When above condition happen, Firmware versions before of version “Gxx-54” did
show “C-FA14”

C. Countermeasure (Temporary):
Due to the reason that R&D and the SATA Controller Manufacture need several weeks to provide
a new SATA Controller Firmware and countermeasure with final solution, R&D released a
countermeasure Firmware “G00-A7”.
The Firmware “G00-A7” include the following procedure, which has been added in the Boot
Process. The procedure will be started when the machine Main Power has been switched On or
when it recovers from Power Save Mode.
The procedure works as follows:
1. If the MFP Controller detects that the SATA Controller started in Maintenance Mode, “C-
DA14” is shown and (USB_SATA program is abnormal) is stored in the Flash Memory
(NVRAM).
2. The procedure detects this abnormal condition and re-writes the SATA Controller Program
to correct the Program Data
3. After that, the machine will be automatically reboot to reset error code “C-FA14”.
The reboot will be initiated via the “Internal Error Reset” Function. The setting has
to be “Yes” for “Rank B” and “Rank “C”.
• Menu key Æ Counter button Æ Display keypad button Æ Stop 00 Stop 01 Æ
Digit the CE PSW and touch END button (Default PSW 9272927292729272) to
enter in Service Mode Æ System 2 Æ page 2 / 3 Æ Internal Error Auto Cancel
Æ Set both Ranks to yes:
Set “Rank B” to “YES”
Set “Rank C” to “YES”
4. If after rewritten the Program and rebooting the SATA Controller starts again in
Maintenance Mode, “1”, “2” and “3” will be executed again.
5. If after the second rewriting and rebooting, the SATA Controller ends up the third time
Maintenance Mode, the machine will stop and display Trouble Code “C-D011” at the
Control Panel. No more automatic reboot will be performed.
Note:
• If after the second re-writing and rebooting the procedure stops, control panel shows “C-
D011”, and the Main Power Switch will be switched OFF and ON again, the whole
procedure will start again. This means if you find a system which has “G00-A7” installed
which permanently shows “C-D011” the MFPB (MFP Board) has to be exchanged.

D. FIELD ACTION
As long as a the permanent solution with related action plan has not been provided by R&D we
recommended, in order to prevent "C-D011" / "C-D050" problem, to install the countermeasure
Firmware as below described:
1. New machine installation

2. Next machine visit
3. Machine visit because of a Service Call to fix “C-D011”, “C-D050” or “C-FA14” with detailed
code (USB_SATA Program is abnormal). In case of a Service Call following procedure has to
be done (see below section “Repair Procedure”)
a) Perform the rewriting Tool for SAT Controller
b) Update the FW with the Countermeasure, FW “G00-A7”
E. Repair Procedure
On the following steps is described the procedure to repair a MFP which shows the Error Code
“C-D011”, “C-FA14” and/or “C-D050”, currently known as “SATA Controller data corrupted”
1. Download the following files from FTP Server for Service
From the FTP Server for Service download the following files:
a) Main Firmware Version “G00-A7”
On your PC create a folder named “FW_G00-A7”, and Download into it the File
“A7PU0Y0-F000-G00-A7.exe”. The link of the FTP Server for Service is the following:
• ftp://OLI_GEN_Public:xUqsCs34f@ftp.olivetti.com/service/digital_color_products\d-
ColorMF364Series\Firmware/FW-G00-A7/
b) USB-SATA – File “A7PU0Y0-F000-GXX-A6(00).exe”
On your PC create a folder named “USB-SATA”, then Download into it the File
“A7PU0Y0-F000-GXX-A6(00).exe”. The link of the FTP Server for Service is the
following:

2. Preparation Work:
Prepare 2 USB memories keys as below reported:
a) Firmware “G00-A7”
Click twice on File “A7PU0Y0-F000-G00-A7.exe” and unzip it.

The folder “A7PU0Y0-F000-G00-A7” is automatically created. Click on it to open the folder.
Copy the older “FW002” in the root folder of the 1st USB memory. (G00-A7)
b) USB-SATA
Click twice on the File “A7PU0Y0-F000-GXX-A6(00).exe” and unzip it.

The folder “A7PU0Y0-F000-GXX-A6(00)” is automatically created. Click on it to open the
folder.
Copy the Folder “FW0002” in the root folder of the 2nd USB memory. (USB-SATA)

3. Check if the “SATA-Controller Data” can be updated with the following procedure:
To upload the “SATA Controller Data” perform the following steps:
a) Take the 2nd USB Memory (USB-SATA), that contains the SATA Controller Data.
b) Turn OFF the Main Power Switch
c) Insert the “USB-SATA” USB memory into the USB Slot
d) Turn the Main Power Switch to ON while pressing the “Stop” button.
e) “Downloading” is shown during updating the “SAT Controller”
f) “SATA FW Update completed Successfully.” is shown and the Start key turns blue
when finished.
Important Note:
• If the update failed, “SATA FW Update completed Failed.” is shown and the Start
key turns Red
• If the screen shows the two grey bars for longer than 3 to 5 minutes, the SATA
Controller Data are not garbled.
g) Turn the Main Power Switch to OFF.
The following three (3) conditions can occur:
a. Condition completed successful Î SATA Controller works correctly
b. Condition hangs with two grey bars Î SATA Controller works correctly
c. Condition failed Î Replace the MFPB with a “New

MFPB”

4. Based on the above condition “a”, “b.”,”c.” different steps are required:
The following three (3) steps describe the operations you have to make, which are based to
the condition obtained when you uploaded the "SATA-Controller Data" to MFP.
a) When the Condition “a.” is occurred:
If the Condition “a.” is occurred, basically machine operate normally.

To prevent reoccurrence it is required to update the countermeasure Firmware “G00-A7”
as next step.
b) When the Condition “b.” is occurred:
If the Condition “b.” and trouble cause was “C-D011” and “C-D050”, replace the MFPB
with a new one.
c) When the Condition “c.” is occurred:
If the Condition “c.” is occurred, the “MFP Board” has to be replaced.
If needed, please follow the procedure described on point “F – MFPB Replacement

Procedure” starting from “Page 17”of the TIB “808659 - 05.

The countermeasure Firmware will be installed at production line and a blue dot will be added to
the following parts:
• The Machine Serial Number Label

• The Carton Box\

G. Appendix – “C-D011” – “C-FA14” detailed Error Codes
On the table below are reported the detailed Error Codes for “C-D011” and “C-FA14” which are
related to “SATA Controller” / “HDD” Errors.
The detailed codes are divided into four groups. The detailed code is recorded based on the
condition of the SATA Controller.
• A detailed code from group A or B will be recorded, when SATA Controller starts in
Maintenance Mode and the rewriting of the SATA Controller Data was successful.
• A detailed code from group A or C will be recorded, when SATA Controller starts in
Maintenance Mode and the rewriting of SATA Controller Data failed.
• A detailed error code from group D will be recorded from errors which happen when the SATA
Controller is in normal mode.

For any MFPB that is suffering of the problem described in this TIB, you have to provide to
Olivetti HQ all the information requested on the table below.
If the MFPB needs to be replaced with a new one, it is Mandatory to provide to Olivetti the
following information:

not be replaced.
