HYMN OF PRAISE
PRAYER UPON ENTERING THE PEW

Gracious and holy God, lead us from death to life, from falsehood to truth.
Lead us from despair to hope, from fear to trust. Lead us from anger to
forgiveness, from hate to love, from war to peace. Give peace in our hearts,
peace in our families, peace among nations, peace in your Church; through
your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
FIRST READING Genesis 45:3-11, 15
Many years after being sold into slavery by his jealous brothers, Joseph
reveals himself to them. Now the second-in-command in Egypt, Joseph
reassures his brothers that God has used their evil intentions for good, to
preserve life during a devastating famine, and Joseph forgives them.
3
Joseph said to his brothers, “I am Joseph. Is my father still alive?” But his
brothers could not answer him, so dismayed were they at his presence.
4
Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come closer to me.” And they came
closer. He said, “I am your brother, Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt.
5
And now do not be distressed, or angry with yourselves, because you sold
me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life. 6For the famine has
been in the land these two years; and there are five more years in which
there will be neither plowing nor harvest. 7God sent me before you to
preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many
survivors. 8So it was not you who sent me here, but God; he has made me a
father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house and ruler over all the land of
Egypt. 9Hurry and go up to my father and say to him, ‘Thus says your son
Joseph, God has made me lord of all Egypt; come down to me, do not
delay. 10You shall settle in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near me,
you and your children and your children’s children, as well as your flocks,
your herds, and all that you have. 11I will provide for you there—since there
are five more years of famine to come—so that you and your household,
and all that you have, will not come to poverty.’ ” 15And he kissed all his
brothers and wept upon them; and after that his brothers talked with him.

The word of the Lord.

Thanks be to God.

Silence for reflection on the reading.

Most merciful God,
we confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves. We
have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have
done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our
whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the
sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us,
and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

In the tender compassion of our God the dawn from on high has broken
upon us. Jesus Christ has manifested God’s grace, has conquered sin, and
calls us to new and eternal life. In Christ’s name and for his sake I declare
to you: God forgives you all your sins. Almighty God grant unto us the

OFFERTORY HYMN Let the Vineyards Be Fruitful (ELW 182)

PREFACE
HOLY, HOLY, HOLY (ELW 190)

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER
Worshippers are invited to bow with the consecration of the Lord’s body
and blood, each time the words “Do this for the remembrance of me,” are
spoken.

Holy God, Creator of all and Source of life,

at the birth of time your word brought light into the world.
In the fullness of time, you sent your Word, born of Mary,
to shine in our darkness and to make us your daughters and sons.

In the night in which he was betrayed,

our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks;
broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying:
Take and eat; this is my body, given for you.
Do this for the remembrance of me.

Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks,

and gave it for all to drink, saying:
This cup is the new covenant in my blood,
shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin.
Do this for the remembrance of me.

Remembering, therefore, his birth and life among us,

his death and resurrection, we await his coming again
when all things will be restored in him.

By your Spirit bless us and this bread and cup,

that, held and nourished by you, we may live as your children,
shining with the light of your Son.

Through him, with him, in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
all honor and glory are yours, almighty Father,
now and forever.
Amen.
LORD'S PRAYER COMMUNION HYMN: Come to Me, All Pilgrims Thirsty (ELW 777)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom
come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who
trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us
from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
forever and ever. Amen.

Lutherans believe, teach and confess that we receive the true Body and
Blood of Christ in Holy Communion. If you desire to pick up the cross and
live in Christ, we hope you will receive with us. Even if you do not feel
prepared to receive the sacrament today we hope you will join us at the
table. Simply hold your hands over your heart and the pastor will give you
a blessing. Pastor will be glad to discuss Holy Communion and Holy
Baptism with you!

INVITATION TO COMMUNION

Christ gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to
make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.
(Titus 2:14) Come, behold and receive the Word made flesh.

LAMB OF GOD (ELW 164)

After all have communed we invite you to stand and sing:

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

Radiant God, with our eyes we have seen your salvation, and in this meal
we have feasted on your grace. May your Word take flesh in us, that we
may be your holy people, revealing your glory made known to us in Jesus
Christ our Savior.
Amen.

BLESSING

The God of glory dwell in you richly, name you beloved, and shine brightly
on your path; and the blessing of almighty God, the Father, the +Son, and
the Holy Spirit, be upon you and remain with you always.
Amen.
