Description
In this lesson, Ss read about the free bikes people in Paris can use to reduce air/traffic pollution. The lesson starts with a discussion about living in Ä°stanbul. Then Ss focus on the title and
the photo to predict what the text is about and write questions that they want to learn about when they read the text. This is followed by a pre-teaching vocabulary stage. After this, Ss read
for detailed information. Finally, there will be a follow-up task that Ss will work in pairs / groups and have another personalized discussion on providing solutions to traffic in Ä°stanbul.

Main Aims
To provide specific information and detail comprehension reading tasks in the context of city transport systems.

Sub Aims
To provide a communicative activity for Ss to produce their own sentences on providing solutions for city transport

Background

Class Profile
The students in this elementary class are between the ages of 18-60. It is a mixed group of learners including university students and people from various professions. Because the class
starts at 6.00 in the evening, students can be tired after a long day at their studies or at work.

Assumptions
I assume that students will have some knowledge of different means of transport because they will have already studied on a listening related to the same topic. Therefore, it will be easier
for Ss to respond to the reading text.

Personal Aims
In this lesson, I am going to keep TTT down and watch out for echoing. Also, I am going to try to give clear instructions and use some ICQs to make sure SS understand these
instructions and some CCQs to check their understanding. And, I will try to use different feedback techniques.

Timetable Fit
In the previous two lessons, the students will have learned and practiced the use of articles in the context of transport. They will also have listened to and talked about imaginative ideas
for transport. In this lesson, they will study on a reading text in the context of city transport.

Anticipated Problems & Solutions

Problem: Ss may have difficulty in writing questions they want to know before they read the text.
Solution: I will monitor closely and encourage them by pairing strong students with weaker ones so that they can help each other.
Problem: Some vocabulary can be difficult for Ss to understand.
Solution: I will use visuals to create a quick and clear understanding of them. Before they start reading the text in detail, they will already have had some ideas about the Citybike system.
