What is the most meaningful extracurricular experience you’ve had and why?
Avid because it teaches the importance of college, also my wood and metal classes because I got to
work with tools I don’t use everyday and learned new methods of working with wood and metal.

The most significant challenge throughout the school year was with struggling academically and and
staying on top of my classes. One of the most difficult classes I have taken have been math related in
which I have needed after school help and retaken classes for. In my freshman year of highschool I
took an algebra I class and gotten a D my second semester of taking the class. The following year I
took a geometry class which I found quite difficult, this resulted in me recieving an F my first
semester. After I switched my math class to Bridge to Geometry which is the class before geometry in
which you learn the basis of geometry. Although this helped significantly, the class worked at a slower
pace and I felt I was sort of wasting my time. The following summer I took my first summer school
class, which was for geometry to receive a better grade. I realized the work in the class was hard to
understand and worked at a fast paste and I couldn’t prepare myself for the material on the test. Despite
me staying in the class for the 5 week period, I was not satisfied with the grade I received so I decided
to retake geometry all together. This time I would be determined to getting a better grade and ask for
help when needed. The first semester of my junior year I passed with a C+ and the semester after that a
B-. Finally I was satisfied with what I had received compared to my previous years in highschool. The
following summer in my junior year of highschool, I decided to take an algebra I summer school class
in which I passed with a B replacing my D from freshman year. I am now taking an Algebra II class
my senior year and hope all goes well, I have access to a tutor which I’ve been seeing every tuesday at
the teen center and one I can pay for that meets up on Sundays. So far I’ve gotten a D my 1st semester
and 2nd semester I hope I can pass with a C or higher. Math has been pretty tough for me and I’ve
needed out of class help to better understand the formulas taught. Despite math being my least favorite
subject, it is still a requirement I need to pass in order to graduate and A-G requirement. Apparently if I
do pass with a C or better my second semester of math, I would still be A through G applicable since
the C makes up for the D as explained by my consular. One of the biggest struggles for math I have is
learning how to use formulas and I have a struggle memorizing the formulas given. Hopefully this
semester with my tutors and with in school help, I can pass with a C or higher. So far academically this
has been the only hardship I’ve faced consistently throughout the school year and school in general.
Write a statement, in essay format (500 words minimum) about what you consider to be your strengths and/or
uniqueness. Do not state mere generalities. If you already have this information written for a prior application, you

My strengths I tend to gravitate towards is to be patient or hard working at times. One academic subject that
inspires me most would be my agriculture class because, there is alot to study about compared to other classes
and it deals with more than one topic. In my junior year of high school, I took an ag related class called
Viticulture and Environmental Studies. One of the reasons why I found this class to be so inspirational was
because viticulture was an interest of mine. I found viticulture to be an interest because my family on my dads
side is heavily into viticulture and other agricultural related industries. I found the study of wine and wine related
topics to be of interest for me. At Sonoma Valley High School there is an ag farm which has its own small scale
vineyard and from time to time the ag class would work on the vineyard. I also acquired useful information on
how to properly take care of a vineyard. One of the most important things I’ve learned throughout the process
was the basis of wine making and how different parts of the winemaking process occur different times of the
year. Outside of school I have family that does business in the wine industry so I feel that ag business would also
be another interest of mine. Both ag business and viticulture are agricultural related topics and so I feel that I
should focus mainly on those in order to achieve success if I am eventually going to be in the wine business, or
use those same skills sets in other business senses as well. To reach the ultimate goal of doing this job I’d have to
be smart and have a good education. I would also have a positive attitude and follow up on everything. I’d need
to go to college and take the right classes while making sure I do my best. Like I said before I would take either
Oenology or Viticulture as my classes. One thing I hope to accomplish in working as a winemaker is making a
lot of money so I can sustain myself and my future family. I hope to be a successful person and when I am gone I
want my name to be remembered. One of the uniqueness I have is that I am left handed some of the interests I’ve
had growing up was wearing unique shoes although I had a few pairs and getting fireworks which I’ve gotten
from Petaluma or Nevada. Another thing is typically I like nice muscle cars or sport cars made for racing such as
a Nissan GTR or maybe a Lamborghini. Favorite sport is baseball I like playing it rather than watching it despite
me not playing for the high school league, I’ll see if I can join a league after high school because this year I felt
that playing any sport in general takes a lot of time and dedication and in my last year of highschool I would like
to limit the stress and focus primarily on work or any school or school related activities.
