The growing scarcity of construction accessible land is causing
engineers, contractors, and developers to find innovative ways to use
less parcels of available land, or to use areas with rough terrain and/or
steep slopes that were once considered as being unusable for
development. Traditionally these are stabilized using RCC retaining
walls, which are expensive to build and very time consuming to
construct. For small projects, availability of concrete also becomes a
challenge.
StrataWeb retaining wall solutions are ideal for such cases. These
structures can be designed similar to any structure but with added
advantages. StrataWeb units are pre-fabricated at the manufacturing
plant and are transported to site in collapsed forms. Once at site, they
are expanded manually and filled with locally available granular soil
to form a retaining structure. It avoids the requirement of concrete,
steel, and any heavy machinery apart from that required for
earthwork. For large projects or heights, StrataWeb wall can be
designed using StrataGrid reinforcing element. These help in further
economizing the solution. These walls can also be vegetated at the
face to provide an aesthetic green finish.

One of the toughest challenges faced by engineers is to construct
embankments over soft soils with low bearing capacities. Various
issues such as differential settlements, shear failures plague such
structures leading to operational and maintenance issues.

Sl o p e e ro s ion control
Conventionally, stone pitching has been the preferred solution for
erosion control along embankment slopes. However stone is scarce
with its quarrying restricted from environmental and commercial
considerations. It is now essential that alternate solutions are
implemented.

With the increasing scarcity in water, it has become more imperative
to construct channel and reservoirs in order to prevent water losses
and maintain a large stock of water to keep the unit operational.

Ve n eer stability for

StrataWeb is specifically designed to increase the veneer stability of
landfill capping on steep slopes within environmental applications.
Container yards
s tabilization
Strata solutions for ground improvement are very versatile and can be
designed and optimized for specific site challenges. They can be designed
for very heavy loads and reduce differential settlements by a large margin
thereby reducing operational costs and economize the subgrade design
for the container yard. Additionally, access roads leading to a port are
generally not well maintained and have low subgrade soil. Poor access
roads lead to lower efficiency, increase in the operational cost and
reduced turn around times for trucks. 14
