RECOMMENDATION LETTER

October 31, 2018

To the Admissions Committee:

It is my pleasure to write a recommendation for Mr. Simranjeet Singh for admission to Master in
Materials Science at RWTH Aachen University. I believe that, this is the perfect time for him to pursue
higher education in this field as he is one of those brilliant minds who has the courage to do something
for Science. I know Simranjeet from the last 4 years, when I was Professor at Alliance University and
taught Simranjeet a course on Basics of Mechanical Engineering and supervised him in the same LAB
as well. Additionally, I was his supervisor during his undergraduate final year’s thesis. He distinguished
himself from other classmates by his uniform and sustained improvement in academics as well as in
research throughout his Bachelor of Technology program. His determination to diligently pursue his
research goals make him stand apart from many other students. I would rank him among the top 10
% students I have taught and supervised in the last 10 years in terms of research skills and his thinking
ability.

When I was teaching his batch, Simranjeet gave me many examples of his brilliant mind-set
and knowledge by scoring high grades in both LABs and course, which not many students get
from me. Hence I offered him Research Assistantship under the department of Aerospace
engineering. I was aware of his natural problem solving ability, which can do a lot for our
department and industry and research area. Meanwhile, he also learnt several research ethics
and successfully fulfilled our expectations. He has had 3 research articles published, the best
of him came out in the one of the most popular Elsevier-Materials Today, where his final
results surprised everyone. The article on ‘Synthesis and Characterization of Magnesium Sponge
Doped with TiO2’ was a perfect example of awareness, being a leader and taking the research
group along with him to obtain the results and utilising the facilities provided to him. By the end
of the span of a couple of years, I believe that he is fit to pursue research projects at a higher level.

With the research ethics and the leadership qualities that he possesses, I believe that he will
become a great example in future. He has the mind-set of solving many problems of science. I
hope he will get the admission for his higher studies at RWTH Aachen University. It will set a stage
for Simranjeet to gain more knowledge and learn more set of research ethics from the
experienced Professors present at RWTH Aachen University.

In the nutshell, I strongly recommend Simranjeet Singh for graduate study in Materials Science at
RWTH Aachen University with suitable financial assistance. I wish Simranjeet with all the blessing
to become a high standard researcher.

If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
