FINAL TASK

GENERAL INFORMATION:

The assignment for this unit consists of doing the tasks presented below. The assignment
must be done individually. It must be submitted according to the official submission
procedure described on the web page from which this file was downloaded. Assignments
sent directly to the tutor by email will not be corrected. The work must fulfil the following
conditions:

 Length: between 3 and 5 pages (not including cover, index or appendices –if
there are any–). Any assignment that exceeds or does not reach the length will
be considered failed.
 Type of font: Arial or Times New Roman.
 Size: 11.
 Line height: 1.5.
 Alignment: Justified.
 Margins: 2.5 above and down, left and right 3 (usual default configuration).

The assignment has to be done on this Word document. Please, do not write the answers
in bold, in order to simplify the difference between them and the activity statements. On
the other hand, the assignment must still fulfil the rules of presentation and edition, and
follow the rubric for quoting and making bibliographical references in the Study Guide.

It is very important to read the assessment criteria, which can be found in the Study
Guide. This final task for Unit 1 will evaluate the conditions of presentation set out below,
the assessment criteria and, specially, the accomplishment of the objectives of this unit:

 Generating ideas in order to write texts.


 Understanding the basics traits of written English.
 Understanding dome learning theories.

The tasks which do not fulfill the terms of submission will not be corrected.

In addition, the participation in the additional tasks is mandatory and it is part of the final
mark.

The file name has to include the following data:

 Number of the group the student belongs to.


 Student’s name initial and the surname.
 The unit’s name initial.

In addition to this, it is very important to read the assessment criteria, which can be
found in the Study Guide.

Task

Exercise 1: Summarizing a text


Firstly, write a summary of the document Learning theory (available in the section Task
Material, icon Task).

First of all, complete the steps presented in the section 1.1.2. Searching for and
organizing ideas of the unit contents: Searching, producing and planning.

a) Searching: read the attached file Learning theory. This file will give you
information on the topic. Remember that the section of the unit mentioned
above states the importance of following all the formal requirements
asked for in this file.

b) Producing: choose one or more different techniques of ideas production


and use it to develop ideas for your text.

c) Planning: choose one or more planning techniques (except the summary)


and organize your ideas. Remember that there are examples of techniques
in the Reflection exercises.

Write a summary for a text of approximately 200 words. Follow the formal
requirements mentioned above. Do not forget the premises of plain language.

Finally, complete a checklist similar to the list presented in 1.1.2.4. Checklist.

Exercise 2: Summary
Based on the reading Learning theory and on the summary you have written, explain
some personal experiences which can be related to each of the theories described. The
text extension must be between 100 to 200 words.

The student is expected to contrast the different learning theories with his own learning
experience. It is recommended that you follow a structure similar to the following example:

“I think that the most common method used during my learning life was Behaviorism. Most
of the activities were meant to learn concepts, and then the assessment measured the
quantity of the knowledge acquired. However, I remember a teacher who…”
