THIS IS A LICENSE AGREEMENT. THIS DOCUMENT SETS FORTH THE TERMS AND
CONDITIONS OF THE LICENSE BETWEEN YOU AND MASIBUS PROCESS
INSTRUMENTS PVT. LTD. (THE “COMPANY”). BY BREAKING THE SEAL ON THIS DISK
PACKAGE, YOU ACCEPT THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE
WITH THIS TERMS, PLEASE RETURN THIS DISK PACKAGE, UNOPENED, ALOGWITH
THE REST OF THE PACKAGE CONTENTS, IMMEDIATELY TO THE COMPANY FOR A
FULL REFUND.

Software License

• LICENSE GRANT - Company grants to you the right to use the copy of the
software program on the single computer located in India. The PROGRAM cannot
be pooled, shared among or between multiple computers through network or
other similar communication programs. Each computer is required to have its
own copy f the PROGRAM.
• COPYRIGHT – The PROGRAM is owned by the COMPANY, and is protected by
Indian Copyright laws. Therefore you must treat the PROGRAM like any other
copyright material except that you may either a) make one copy of PROGRAM
solely for backup or archival purpose, or b) copy the PROGRAM to hard disk,
provided that you keep the original solely for back-up or archival purposes. You
must reproduce and include the copyright notice on such copy. You must not

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
In order to facilitate installation and use of this product, please read
this manual in it’s entirely before starting the installation.

FUNCTION
The Masibus Remote Configuration Workstation, Masibus-RCW is a
stand-alone computer program that:

 Provides a means of configuring Hathaway Sequential Event


Recorders.
 Stores device configuration data on hard disk for convenient
downloading in case of device memory failure or
replacement.
 Uploads and downloads configuration data between hard disk
storage and device configuration memory system.
 Allows configuration data to be viewed, edited, and printed
 Archive SER events to the computer hard disk for analysis
 Retrieve SER status information for viewing and printing.

 Archives SER events at user programmable interval to the
computer Hard disk for analysis
 Dial up access to device via MODEM.
 Define groups for different points.
 Generates Historical report in html / Excel format
 Generates automatic shift and daily report in excel format
and store in hard disk. (The report period is user
programmable)
 Access excel report file and html report from network
 Event color for Alarm & return to normal is user configurable
 User friendly GUI
 Supports Multiple SER
 Auto polling to multiple SER at a time
 Reset SER through software
INSTALLATION
To prepare to use the Masibus-RCW, perform the following steps:

READ THIS INSTRUCTION MANUAL IN IT’S ENTIRELY BEFORE


BEGINNING
INSTALLATION.

SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
NOTE: In order to effectively use the Masibus-RCW
software, a Working knowledge of IBM compatible
computers and the operating system Windows 9x is
required. It is also assumed that the operator
is familiar with the operation of SERs.

System Requirements of Masibus-RCW.


Operating System :Windows 2000, XP
RAM :128 MB or More (Recommended)

Internet Explorer 5 or higher


Java Run Time Environment: 1.3
SoftDog Drivers Installation

Check TCP/IP Protocol


First of all check that TCP/IP protocol is installed or not.
If you have Network Card installed on your PC then it
already exists in your PC.
If there is no Network Card, then install TCP/IP protocol
by installing "Dialup Networking" from your WINDOWS
CD.

To install "Dialup Networking", follow these steps:

Control Panel ==> Add-Remove Program ==> Windows


Setup ==> Communication ==>Dialup Networking
Click OK and insert WINDOWS CD-ROM.

Check for Java Run Time Environment


Before installation of the Masibus-RCW please check
whether the Java Runtime Environment 1.3 is installed or
not, if not installed then install it from the this

CD-ROM (CD-ROM:\J2RE 1.3\j2re1_3_0-win.exe).


Check for Internet Explorer
If you have Internet Explorer 5 or lower version then
upgrade it with Internet Explorer 5.5 before installation of
Masibus-RCW. This CD-ROM contains complete setup for
IE 5.5.

Install Masibus-RCW
Run \Masibus-RCW\setup.exe from CD to install the
software. The installation will generate a program icon in
the Start Menu/Programs and on desktop.

Make DSN

After installation of Masibus-RCW, you will have to make


the DSN for database connectivity. To make the DSN
please follow the steps listed below.

1) Open the control panel


2) Double click on ODBC Data Source (32 bits)
3) Highlight the User DSN Tab and click on "Add" button.
4) From the drivers list, select "Microsoft Access Driver
(*.mdb)" and click "Finish" button.
5) In the Data Source Name text box, type "winrcwDSN"
and click on "Select" button.
6) Select the winrcw.mdb from the folder C:\Program
Files\Masibus-SED or That directory where You install
Masibus-RCW\Masibus-SED and click the "OK" button.
7) Click on Advance Button, and give password "mite75",
left Login Name blank.
HARDWARE INSTALLATION
The minimum requirements for Masibus-RCW system are:
1) IBM PC/AT compatible computer (at least Pentium) running
Windows 9x with at least 32 MB RAM.
2) 1 GB or larger Hard Disk space
3) At least one Serial Port
4) Hayes-compatible MODEM

EQUIPMENT HOOKUP
There are several ways to connect to device to the computer
running
Masibus-RCW. For automatic operation, these include:
 Direct connection
 Via MODEM
Be sure that all SER connection is to SER ports, which have
already been configured as BPA ports running at RCW-specified
baud rate.

MODEM
Maximum speed of the MODEM should be at least as high as the
configured baud rate of the connected device. The MODEM at
the remote end of the link should be configured so that the
power on default is auto-answer mode. For safety, it should also
be configured to disable the command mode.
The MODEM connected to the computer running Masibus-RCW
should be configured with the following parameters.

E1 Modem command echo enable


Q0 Return result code
V1 Return result code in word form
W0 Do no return negotiation progress messages
&C1 Cause DCD signals to track actual state of remote
Modem’s carrier
&D2 Hang up, disable auto-answer, returns to command
mode on DTR
The MODEM connected to the DEVICE being access should b
configured with the following parameters.
E0 Modem command echo disabled
Q1 Do not return result code
W0 Do no return negotiation progress messages
&C1 Cause DCD signals to track actual state of remote
Modem’s carrier
&D0 Ignore DTR
S0=1 Auto-answer on the first ring
OPERATION
This Section describes the operation of the RCW (Remote
Configuration Workstation).

USING THE CONTEXT MENU


Context Menu contains the following commands for SER operations.
 New SER
 Reset SER
 Edit System Configuration
 Edit Point Configuration
 Clear Historical Buffer
 Change SER Password
 Test Connection
 Get System Configuration
 Send System Configuration
 Send Time
 Delete SER

Context Menu is popped up when Right Mouse Button is clicked after


selecting SER.

USING PULL-DOWN MENU


There are six pull-down menus. These consist of the following menus:
 General
 History
 SER
 View
 Setup
 Help

A pull down menu is displayed when clicked on above menu by mouse


or using short key.

Toolbar contains the following Masibus-RCW commands:

 About Masibus-RCW

GETTING STARTED
To run the program double clicks on Masibus-RCW icon on
desktop or click on Start Menu\Programs\ Masibus-RCW.

PASSWORD
The operator is prompted to enter the Masibus-RCW
password.
The default password is “masibus” until changed by operator.
If the rcw.ini file is removed the password will not work.
After a valid password is entered, the main program screen
is displayed

Certain functions, such as Get, Send or Edit a configuration


require that the main password be entered before the
operation can be performed. The Password can be change by
selecting the “Change RCW Password” command in “Setup”
Menu.

PULL DOWN MENU

General

Add New SER

The very first time you start the Masibus-RCW you would
require to configure new SER or if you want to add another
SER in your system. When you click on New SER menu
command following wizard will be displayed to configure new
SER.

In above dialog operator will specify SER No#, Station No#,


Station Name, Auto Polling and polling interval time in
“hh:mm:ss” format for new SER and click on “Next” Button.
On clicking on Next Button following dialog is opened.

In above dialog operator will specify the communication


method to SER device, direct connection or Via Modem. The
Baud rate should be matched to connect SER. If a modem
was specified for the communication, the phone number for
the remote modem must be specified on next page.
Next page will come on clicking “Next” button.
In above dialog operator will specify Phone No., Connection
time out, No. of Retry, Retry time, Modem initialize string of
remote modem if he has selected modem communication
with SER. After completing above steps click on “Finish”
button if you want to add New SER or cancel.

If operator click on Finish button New SER will be added in


your Masibus-RCW system which is seen in SER tree (top left
screen) or Status Screen (top Right Screen).

Setup
This command can be used for changing port and device
settings
of particular SER.

Change RCW Password


To change the RCW password, click on this menu command.
Certain commands, such as Get, Send or Edit a configuration
this RCW password is required. Following dialog is
prompted for changing the password.
Log Errors to File
This toggle menu command will record the operational errors
messages to error.log file.

Display Incoming Events


This toggle menu command will display the incoming events to
Event view screen.

Print Incoming Events


This toggle menu command will print the incoming events.

Print RCW Configuration


This command will start printing the configuration of RCW.

Exit
Masibus-RCW can be terminated by clicking on Exit command from
File Menu.
History

Auto Archive
This toggle menu command enables the auto-archiving feature.
This command enables/disables auto SER polling.

Poll All SERs

This command explicitly polls all the connected SERs


simultaneously.
This will immediately poll all the SERs, which are setup for
automatic archiving if polling is stopped.

Historical Events
Masibus-RCW can keep a historical record on hard disk of all
events processed by the SERs for future analysis.
This menu command will open on-line report generation tool in
Internet Explorer.
Operator can navigate through it by just single clicking the links.
This tool can generate four types of report namely
1) System Configuration Report
2) Point Configuration Report
3) Historical Event Report
4) Group Event Report as shown in the image.
SER
The SER menu contains the commands necessary to access
Point and System configuration.

Send Time to SER

This SER menu command is used for sending the time


configuration to the selected SER.

Clear Historical Buffer

If a port configuration is changed to a preferred port, this


command must be used to clear historical buffer before
sending the new configuration to the SER.

Get Latest Events Now

This command immediately polls the selected SER to collect the


events from SER buffer. The events are shown in the event view
window.
Get Configuration

This command is used to get the system and point


configuration information from the selected SER and store it

on the hard disk.

Send Configuration

This SER command is used for sending the configuration


settings saved in hard disk to the selected SER.

Change SER Password

This command is used to change the system password of


selected SER
Edit Configuration

Editing can be performed on a configuration which has been


transferred from SER to hard disk using “Get Configuration”
command.

System
This SER sub menu command is used for editing
the existing system configuration. Once operator
edits and applies, setting gets stored in the hard
disk. To send to SER, he/she has to send this
configuration to SER using “Send
Configuration/system” menu command.

This command opens a wizard which will guide the


operator to edit system configuration such as the
port settings, scanner, SER properties, synthesized
points and assign points. After editing and applying
the settings, operator can make the settings as
default settings by just clicking on “Set As Default”.
If operator wants to see the previous default
settings he/she can see it by clicking on “Load
Default” button.

“PORT SETTINGS”
This page allows the operator to establish port
settings for port 0 to 6
There are several parameters, which may need to
be set in this process.
BAUDRATE:
50,75,110,134.5,150,300,600,1200,1800,2400,36
00,4800,7200,9600,19200
DATA BITS: 7,8
PARITY: Odd, Even, None, Mark, or
Space
BACKUP PORTS:0-6
PREFERED PORT: Yes/No (used to prevent data
lost)
HORN: Yes/No (for CRT only)
BEEP: Yes/No (for CRT only)
TIME SORT: Yes/No (for Consoles and Printers
only)

“SCANNERS”

This page allows the operator to change the


following information.
1) The maximum number of points in
SER
2) Which Scanners cards are enabled?

“SYNTHESIZED POINTS”
This page allows the operator to setup the
synthesized points. First the status of the
synthesized points are specified and then the
details of each enabled point are entered. When
the point is changed, the information for the
current synthesized point is saved and the
information for the new point is displayed.

STATUS: Enable/Disable

MODE: CR CRT assigned port


PA pulse on alarm
PN pulse on return to normal
PB pulse on alarm and return to normal
CA continuous on alarm
CN continuous on return to normal
DIAGNOSTIC POINTS:
1) Port failure (P0-P6)
2) Power failure (PW)
3) Functional test failure (FT)
4) Self test failure (ST)
5) Foxboro link failure (FA, FB)
6) Clock synchronization failure
(SF)

“ASSIGNED POINTS”

Point

It is possible to edit and view point configuration


information for designated SER.
“EDIT POINTS”
When editing the point configuration, following
parameters are available for modification.
Status:
State : open/closed
Enable : Yes/No
Critical : Yes/No

Debounce Time (Alarm/Normal): 1 – 65535

A Alarm only
N Normal Only
AN Alarm and Normal

Legend (Alarm and Normal):


Color: black, red, green, yellow, blue,
magenta, cyan, white
Text: up to 60 characters
NOTE: Normal Legends cannot be entered if
separate return legends are displayed in the
system configuration.

Synthesized Points:
Status: Enable/Disable
Mode:(display only)
CR CRT assigned port
PA pulse on alarm
PN pulse on return to normal
PB pulse on alarm and return to normal
CA continuous on alarm
CN continuous on return to normal
Operator can click on arrow buttons

To edit the points in increment/decrement order.


He/She can also change groups for point(s) as well
as create new groups by clicking on “New” button.

On clicking “Apply Multiple” button,

is able to apply a portion or all of the same
configuration to multiple points. Specify the comma
separated list and select which fields of the current
point should be copied to the specified points.
Print

This command will start printing the System and Point


Configuration of SER

SER

Test Connection

This menu command is used to check the online/offline


status of the selected SER.

Reset SER

This command is used for resetting the selected SER.


Delete SER
This menu command will remove the SER from the
Masibus-RCW and all its related entries from the database
in hard disk.

View Status

The View Status command allows the operator to query the


SER for its status and display it.
Operator can see failed port/scanner numbers and alarm
summary.
View

Toolbar
This is the toggle menu command to display/hide toolbar from
the main screen.

Status bar
This is the toggle menu command to display/hide status bar from the
main screen.

Event View
This menu command will display only Event View screen for all
incoming events for all connected SERs.
Setup

Change Event View color


This menu command is specially used for setting the
background color of event view window and foreground color
for incoming events. There are three predefined color pattern
for background and event color and eight types of event that
SER supports, operator can set different color for each type of
event.
Report type

By default system generates daily events report and shift


events report in Excel file format. These files are generated in
\\ExcelReport folder.

Daily report file name convention: [dd-month name-yyyy]. xls

Shift report file name convention: [sh#-dd-month name-


yyyy].xls

By default the three shift timings are


05:00-13:00
13:00-21:00
21:00-05:00
Operator can change this timings and no. of shifts using this
menu command.
If the automatic reports are not required then operator can
deselect daily/shift report or both.
Edit groups

Operator can add new group and edit the existing groups
using this menu command. These groups can be assigned to
point(s) in point configuration.

Event Font Color

This menu command is used for changing the font, font color, font
style and size of incoming events.
CONTEXT MENU
Context Menu is displayed when operator selects an SER from the tree
and clicks the right mouse button.

To Report an Error,
In case you encounter any problem or erroneous situation you can report the
details to Masibus.

1. Describe the steps to help to reproduce the behavior/error.


2. Date when the error occurred
3. Screen Shot (snap shot of screen where you found the error)
For capturing the screen shot ensure that the screen is active screen
and press Ctrl +Print Screen. Image of the screen will be captured.
Go to Start menu -> Programs -> Accessories -> Paint.

In Paint, click on Edit->Paste.


The captured image will be pasted. Save the image with Save option
from File menu.
For e.g.: Below is the snapshot of main screen pasted in Paint

4: You also need to provide the database and log files to Masibus.

If the application is installed in


C:\Program Files\Masibus\Masibus RCW
Then in Masibus RCW folder there will be winrcw.mdb[ ],
Logs folder and Backup folder .

You use zip\ rar utility to compress the Logs and Backup folder.
Copy winrcw.mdb, compressed Log and Backup folder and send
it to Masibus through e-mail (as an attachment) or in CD

Do not cut/delete any of files from Masibus RCW/Logs/Backup folder.

5: Also send information about your PC.


To view computer configuration: right-click on My Computer icon on
Desktop and select Properties.
In following screen you can view System and Computer Configuration
Send System and Computer Configuration to Masibus

Utility for assistance

1. clfind.exe

This is Win32 console program to find the COPYLOCK Dongle(s) connected


on LPT port(s).

The usage is :
CLFIND [Option]

Where, Option =
/h,/? - displays the help
/F - Fix the problem (if any)
with no options - Find the COPYLOCK Dongle(s)
