Upotrebe:

Oba vremena se koriste za radnju koja se dogodila u prošlosti.

Razlike:

Past Simple: Present Perfect:

-radnja koja se dogodila - radnja se desila u neodređenom trenutku u

u određenom trenutku u prošlosti prošlosti
- radnja je završena -radnja se nastavlja u sadašnjosti ili i dalje ima
- naglasak je više na vremenu, a ne posledice
na tome šta se dogodilo - naglasak je na događaju, a ne na vremenu

- radnja koja se dogodila - radnja je u prošlosti duže vreme trajala

u određenom trenutku u prošlosti - dve ili više radnji koje su se paralelno dešavale
- prošla radnja koja je trajala, a prekinuta je nekom
drugom radnjom

Primeri za Past Continuous:

-I was sleeping all day. (radnja je u prošlosti duže vreme trajala)

- While I was cooking, she was doing her homework. (dve ili više radnji koje su se paralelno dešavale)
- I was watching TV when she arrived. (prošla radnja koja je trajala, a prekinuta je nekom drugom
radnjom)

Past Perfect

Koristi se za radnju koja se završila pre neke druge prošle radnje.

Građenje:

had+glagol u prošlosti (infinitiv+ed ili 3. kolona)

When he had finished his homework, he went to play.
