Parent Survey Reminder – During the month of February you were given a card with a
link to our parent survey and your student code. Teachers have also reached out to
the parents that have not completed this survey. The final date to be able to take
the parent survey is Sunday, March 3. Please take a moment to give us feedback on
your student’s education at Knapp. Your opinions and suggestions are valued!

Culture Celebrations – Tuesday, March 5, from 5-7 pm. Knapp is hosting our first
Culture Celebration and Folk Dance night. We are excited for this opportunity to
learn about the various countries represented by our Knapp families, as well as learn
some fun folk dances from Mr. Wideman. The event starts at 5 pm where you can visit
booths set up representing different countries and sample food/drinks from those
places! The dancing will begin around 5:45. Parents - if you are willing to set up a
booth and bring in food samples, please let Mrs. Thompson know your interest.

Weather and Snow Days – Knapp currently sits at thirteen snow days (with March and
April still to come at us). There has been no movement in Lansing on their debate of
the weather and snow day forgiveness. Knapp has six days built into the calendar so
at this point the wavier for three to seven days is still unknown. Please continue to
plan to attend school during the week of June 10th. When information and decisions
become available we will pass it on and adjust the calendar as soon as we can.

Reading Month - March is Reading Awareness Month and Knapp is ready to

celebrate! The Library Committee has planned and organized activities throughout
the month of March to encourage our students to read. Make it a goal this month to
encourage your child to read for 20 minutes each day! As you encourage your child
to read at home, the library Committee has added a little fun along the way!! Dr.
Seuss spirit week. Author visits Reading contests and even Flashlight Fridays - Bring a
flashlight on March 8th, 15th, and the 22nd and read in the dark! Teachers will have
designated DEAR time in their classroom and students can read with a flashlight!
