 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING In accordance with U3A’s By-Laws Clause 5.6, all Members
are reminded that it is compulsory to wear your Members
to be held in the Community name Badge at all classes.

If the style of class you may be attending, for example, Yoga,

Notice - Students’ Class Attendances

Due to the high enrollment rate at the beginning of Students are reminded that to

Notice – Bereavement of Marie O’Sullivan

It is with great sadness, a much loved and respected Member


of U3A passed away on 7 December 2018.

Marie was of Irish heritage and so enjoyed Douglas Oliver’s


class on Irish History,

Marie attended three classes – French, World History, and in


the Needlecraft class, Marie learnt to crochet.

She will be sadly missed.

Instrumental and Vocal Ensemble Class

An informal venue for participants


to learn, experiment with, and
perform their musical skills.

► Venue : Margaret Street, U3A premises


► Time : Saturday 10.00 am to 1.00 pm

This is a workshop format class for beginner or more advanced musicians and/or
singers who would like to investigate their potential or extend their participation in
instrumental and/or vocal activities.

 If you have had an instrument sitting in a cupboard or in its case and have
wanted to dust if off for some time, this may be an opportunity to
explore aspirations.

 If you think your singing in the shower is pretty good, why not come along and
learn some microphone skills and sing with the instrument players.

 Limited assistance may be available for those playing, strings woodwind


or brass.

 All levels of musical skills are welcome, and everyone will have a chance to
book in and explore their interests and aspirations.

 You will have the opportunity to meet up with people of similar ilk and maybe do
something that you have always wanted to try.

 Participants will need to liaise with the program coordinator to organise music,
times for individual requests, etc.

 This is an introductory workshop and specific details will be ratified over the
next few weeks. First session, Saturday 16 February 2019.

U3A Network Queensland State Conference 2019

All U3A Gold Coast Inc. members are eligible to attend the State Conference for U3A Network
Queensland to be held on 16 and 17 May which will be hosted by U3A Bundaberg.
The Conference and Dinner will be at The Waves Sports Club, Norville, only a short distance from
downtown Bundaberg.
Registration for this event is now open with details of the Program, Venue, Activities, and
Conference fees which can be found by clicking on the dedicated Conference Website at

We are still looking - do you have a


success story to tell!
Our Patron, Councillor Dawn Crichlow OAM, is interested in how many
U3A Members have a story to tell and how U3A has helped them
recover from any serious illness and get back into enjoying life.
We already have three Members who have been in touch and
consented to do a story - if you would like to participate, please
contact either the President or Alice Fairley.

Desk / Bed Lamps for sale

BE QUICK – ONLY A FEW LEFT


Our Patron, Councillor Dawn Crichlow OAM, donated
a number of these lamps and, at its meeting on
5 November 2018, Committee resolved to offer these
to Members for $20 each and the money collected will
go as a donation to U3A.
They are LED lamps and the neck is very flexible.
If anyone would like to purchase one of these
lamps, please ask at the Reception desk.

QUEENSLAND BALLET

“DANGEROUS LIAISONS”
Based on Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ novel,
the story is set amongst the aristocratic elite of late
18th century France and is a hedonistic tale of love,
virtue and humanity re-imagined into a dramatic new
ballet for mature audiences.
NOTE: This ballet contains adult themes and is NOT
