Term project
The goal of the term project is for students to be able to apply the theory learnt in the
class into the real situation. Each team consists of 3 to 5 students. Each team needs to
recommend the strategy to the company of their choice. Three deliverables are
required for the project – proposal, progress report, and full report.

Term project proposal is the first step of the term project. Each team needs to present
the company of their choice, the background of the company, its problem or why this
company needs to change its strategy, and potential source of data. 1 page proposal
including all the detail as well as the in-class presentation is required and due on June
27.

Progress report is equal to the first part of the full paper. The progress report must
consist of the background of the company and the current challenge the company is
facing which is already covered in the proposal, the internal and external analysis. At
this point, the internal and external analysis of the company must be completed and
utilize most or all of the tools that have been taught in the class. The progress report
as well as in-class presentation are due on August 1.

The full report must consist of everything covered in the progress report plus
recommended strategy and the execution plan. The recommended strategy must relate
to the analysis in the first part. The full paper and the presentation are due on the last
class.

The score for the term project will be graded based on the full paper. Even though the
proposal and the progress report does not count toward the final score, it is essential
that you submit these reports as to make sure that you are on the right track since the
beginning. The score is based on 5 criteria; the depth of the analysis, the depth of the
recommendation, the linkage between the analysis and the recommendation; the
execution plan; and the overall quality of the paper.

Strategy talk
Strategy talk aims for students to learn the current strategic action that has been used
in the real situation through the case study of the company. Each student will select
one important strategic change of a real company and present to the class. The
presentation must include the background of the company, their problem or challenge,
what they did strategically to solve the problem, their result of the change, and your
analysis of the situation based on the class content. The presentation should be around
10 – 15 minutes. We will do the strategy talk through out the second half of the term.
Therefore, about 4 – 5 people will present in each week. The schedule will be based
on voluntary basis.

Classroom Policies
All written assignments must be original; however, students are encouraged to
discuss assignments with classmates and to collaborate for educational purposes.

assignments will not be accepted. Midterm and final exam must be submitted on
