By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

- Understand about the wedding traditions of the Amish community living in


Pennsylvania, the USA.
- Listen to the recording about “…” and answer the questions related to it.
- Discuss about the unusual or interesting features of Amish wedding traditions.
IV. Knowledge:
- Learn words and phrases relating to the wedding traditions of the Amish
community.
- Know the language used to talk about the wedding traditions.
V. Skills:
- Develope and improve listening skills.
- Improve the skill of working by individuals or pairs.
VI. Attitudes:
- Be enthusiastic towards the other wedding traditions.
VII. Competences:
- Develope students’ competence of listening skill.

7 minutes - Teacher divides students into groups of
3 people, then, in a limited time, asks
them to list as many Vietnamese
wedding rituals as possible
- Next, students are required to answer
some questions below:
+ At what time of the year people
usually hold their wedding ceremony?
+ How many stages are there in a
wedding?
+ Where is the wedding ceremony
usually held?
+ What kind of gift do the bride and
groom usually receive from their
parents/guests?
+ Do you know any taboos/superstitious
beliefs in the wedding? If you know, tell
us.
 Pre- Activity 1: Pre-listening: True/False Teacher 

13 minutes - Teacher informs students about what
they are going to listen to: the wedding
traditions of the Amish community
living in Pennsylvania, the USA.
- The students are required to look at a set
of sentences and try to guess if they are
true or false.

13 minutes - Teacher has students listen to the
recording for the first time to check the
answers in activity 1. Students are then
divided into pairs.
- Teacher ask them to compare the
answers to their partners.
- Teacher lets them listen to the recording
again, then elicits answers from them
and ask them to give clues for their
answers.

- Teacher asks students to read through
the text first, then lets them listen to the
recording again.
- Students are required to listen and fill
the gaps. Teacher lets them hear again if
necessary.
- Teacher elicits answers and gives them
the correct ones.

they learnt about the Amish wedding
customs, then asks them to discuss
about what they find unsual or
interesting.

up and give their answers.
