YAY…We are up to E…

It is important to keep practicing the previous lessons (pitch, patterns, counting, C-Note)… as
each lesson builds on the last….

At this point, it would be ideal if the child practices about 5 min 4-5 days a week… on any or all
of the concepts.

E is the white key directly following D…as displayed below:

1. Mark (put a “E”, color in the key, etc.) the E’s on the keyboard below. After completed: If you
are practicing with a piano or keyboard, sit down in front of the keys and find “E”. How many
E’s were there? _____
For Review- put a marking/ write “C” on the C notes and “D” on the D notes.
2. Using number 1 to represent C, number the Keyboard…(C=1,D=2,E=3, etc.) (There should be 4
1’s when completed). After completed: If you are practicing with a piano or keyboard, sit down
in front of the keys and find “C”, “D” and “E”.
Right Hand Practice: Play all of the C’s with the right hand (thumb); the D’s with the right index
finger; and the E’s with the right middle finger.
Left Hand Practice: Then play all of the C’s with the left (pinky finger); D’s with the left ring
finger; and E’s with the left middle finger.

3. Have the child play the following “tunes” on the piano/ keyboard:
a. Play with the right hand: thumb for C; Index for D; and Middle for E
b. Play with the left hand: Pinky for C; Ring for D; and Middle for E

 C C C C D D D D E E E E D D D D

 C C D D E E D D C C D D E E D D

 C D E D C D E D C D E D C D E D

For the next lesson the child should be able to play fluently-ish:

 C E C D C D E D C D E D C E C D
