To Whom It May Concern:

It is with great honor and pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for a student of mine,
Catherine (Cat) Mufioz. Cat has been enrolled at Garza Independence High School since the summer of
2016 and has worked efficiently to receive her course credits and graduate in May of2018. Our
curriculum at Garza Independence High School is completely self-paced. This means that students are
responsible for meeting the curriculum requirements of each course.

Cat was in my Forensics science course at Garza. While in class, Cat was very engaged in the
curriculum. She was so interested in how to use the evidence collected in a crime and the scientific
processing of that evidence to prove someone committed a crime. Cat and I always had in depth
conversations about different serial killer and the method used to catch them. She even got me hooked
on watching the show Criminal Minds; the premise was catching killers. Cat was one of my first
students when I started teaching Forensics and through our conversations t~at really had me interested
and passionate about the class I was teaching.

Cat is involved at Garza and a member of the Principal's Student Advisory Cabinet (PSAC), which
is a group of students, elected by her peers and faculty. The group meets to plan school-wide activities
and provide student input to the principal about improvements that the student body would like Garza
to pursue. The PSAC students were also in charge of delivering bi-weekly lessons to our Ujamaa,
which is our student advisory period. These lessons consist of money planning for after graduation,
applying to colleges, and social emotional learning.

While attending Garza, Cat continued to be involved in Lacrosse. She practiced several days out of
the week and played in all the games. Cat had so much talent in Lacrosse, she was awarded All-State
Goalie two years in a row.

I highly recommend Cat Mufioz for anything she may pursue. She is driven, hard-working,
understanding, and has a great sense of humor. Please do not hesitate to call me for any further
information you might need.

Sincerely,

Nicole Howard
