The author’s thesis is how drowning is a leading global killer, particularly among children and young
adults. Worldwide, there are approximately 42 drowning deaths every hour and every day. This number
highly underestimates the real figures, even for high-income countries. Drowning involves issues that are
rarely or not found in any other medical situations. The from immersion to cardiac arrest, drowning
usually occurs within seconds to a few minutes. An early and effective rescue may stop the drowning
process, the need to resuscitate, and medical complications. This resource is valuable toward my learning
stretch because I became aware more information that I did not know prior to reading it. This article can
enhance my project by informing me that the use of propelling and floating equipment saves time with the
reduction of drowning deaths. An idea that it sparks toward my final product is lifeguards need more CPR
training.

The author’s thesis is the lack of public involvement and campaigning by a community and others to
teach the public CPR causes more and more people’s lives to be at risk everyday. The lack of public,
non-medical involvement can be involved primarily with three factors: apathy, fear of disease, and fear of
lawsuit. The benefit of a community offering classes can teach what causes sudden death, how to remove
an obstruction from someone's airway, how to check for a pulse, and other techniques. This resource is
valuable toward my learning stretch by enforcing how learning CPR is very helpful in a community. This
article can enhance my project by informing me that making efforts to teach the public how to perform a
basic form of CPR can increasingly help the prevention of drowning. An idea that this sparks toward my

The author’s thesis is how understanding the full burden of drowning is vital to resourcing and directing
prevention efforts. The author uses studies to compare profile of non-fatal drowning to that of fatal. There
is relatively little population-level research on non-fatal drowning. The study of this resource compares
data on fatal and non-fatal drowning in Australia. It also identifies key ratios, significant differences and
inform prevention efforts. This resource is valuable towards my learning stretch because it helps my
interest in identifying the best practice in minimising the lethality of exposure to drowning. An idea that
can spark toward my final product is documenting the fact of drowning is vital to ensuring that the issue is
fully understood and its prevention adequately resourced. All of the information is usable.

The author’s thesis is that Florida has the highest accidental drowning death rate in the nation for the one
to four year old age group. Florida is third in the nation for overall drowning death rates between 1999
and 2004, according to the Department of Health. Approximately three hundred and seventy-five children
drown each year within twenty-five yards of a parent. In some of those, the parent is actually watching the
child but misses the signs of drowning, according to Centers for Disease Control. The signs of drowning
can be easily missed by people who are not aware of them. This resource is valuable toward my learning
stretch by informing me with statistics. It can enhance my project by giving information about drowning.

The author’s thesis is, children are most at risk because they feel that their house is safe, but there are
many possible dangers. The author uses statistics as evidence. It is often children who die in needless
drowning accidents in or near their home. There are three important ways that can help prevent accidents
at home. The first one is knowing the dangers in the home. The second one is knowing the dangers around
the home. The third one is how learning how to help can make the difference. This resource is valuable
towards my learning stretch because I was not aware prior to reading this article \of the ways to prevent
accidents at home. This article can enhance my project by informing others of how to prevent accident at
home. An idea that has sparked toward my final product is informing others to show their families how to
