 History of the School

CONCEPCION NORTH CENTRAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Way back in 1928, school age children of the Municipality of Concepcion

grew very fast. The putting up of 10-room Gabaldon type of school building was
inadequate to accommodate numerous schoolchildren of San Nicolas Poblacion
and the adjoining barrios. That time, the Municipal President. The late Don
Gregorio Palma thought it wise to solve the school problems. So with the
support of the Representative- Don Benigno S. Aquino Sr., Don Gregorio Palma
was able to acquire a land donated for school site purposes. A school was
donated by the Cristobal and Gueco families in Concepcion. In the following
year, through the efforts of the late Don Benigno S. Aquino Sr., a school
building with 12 rooms was constructed. It was formally opened and
established as Concepcion Elementary School. Many prominent citizens and
leaders of the Municipality of the Province were products of this school. To
mention a few distinguished alumni, we have former Congressman Jose V. Yap,
Vice Governor of Tarlac- Nicolas Y. Feliciano and Board of Director Patricio Y.
Pineda.
All through the years, the school grew and survived various calamities
both man-made and natural, including the Second World War in 1941.
The Concepcion Elementary School was then changed into Concepcion
North Central Elementary School in 1963 when the Municipality of Concepcion
was divided into two school districts namely; Concepcion North District and
Concepcion South District. Later on, it was again divided into four- the North,
South, West and East Districts. From then on, it has continued to serve the
townspeople of Concepcion.
In 1977, the worst has come to this school when it was accidentally
burned due to faulty electrical writing. It did not take long when the school
began its reconstruction a year later with the assistance of Former Minister
Constancio E. Castaneda of the Ministry of General Services. A new and
beautiful concrete school building with 12 rooms was finally completed in
1979.
Before the outbreak of World War II, a certain Mr. Mauricio Labutong
was assigned as the Head Teacher of Concepcion Elementary School with Mr.
Santiago as his Supervising Teacher. When World War II broke, Mr. Gerardo
Sison of Tarlac handled the school as Head Teacher with the same Supervising
Teacher. After the war, Mr. Desiderio Mercado of San Jose took over as the
School Principal. His Supervisor then was Mr. Eginido Zamora of Camiling,
Tarlac. Due to Mr. D. Mercado’s promotion to a Supervisory position Mr.
Marcelino Tolentino succeeded.

During the Supervisorship of Mr. D. Mercado the following Principals

succeedingly took place one after the other:

Mr. Marcelino Tolentino was viced by Mr. Esteban G. Asprec as the

School Principal, when Mr. E. Asprec was then promoted to a Supervisory
Position, Mr. Glicerio Zablan seated as the Principal, then came Mr. Agripino
Dizon in 1970 who stayed in the school for 8 years, Mr. Esteban G. Asprec now
as the Supervisor until Mr. Jose M. Quiambao was assigned as the Principal to
take the place of Mr. A. Dizon who was transferred then to Lapaz North in
1978.
Upon the retirement of Mr. Asprec, Mr. Florentino A. Ramos replaced
him. Mr. Benjamin Canovas then took Mr. Quiambao’s place when he retired.
Mrs. Erlinda B. Balatbat the first lady Principal got the position of Mr. Canovas
due to his transfer to Concepcion East.
Mr. Ramos then passed away, so Mr. Angel Rodriguez took his place as
the District Supervisor. From Principal I to Principal II Mrs. Balatbat was
promoted so she was transferred to O’Donnel Capas, Tarlac. It was then when
Mr. Nicolas M. Reyes arrived to administer the school from S.Y. 2001-2006.
Due to his untimely death in December 19, 2005, Mr. Catalino J. Navarro
replaced him. For almost a year Mr. Navarro headed the school as Principal II
then promoted to Principal III until the Almighty Creator took him in His hands
too in December 12, 2006.
Mr. Danilo M. Sese the District Supervisor ruled the district and at the
same time managed the Central school for sometime. In June 18, 2007, Mrs.
Maria Luisa S. Bondoc, a former Grade I teacher of the school for 19 years
assigned as the Central School Principal up to her promotion as Education
Supervisor I on November 3, 2010. After Mrs. Bondoc left for the division, Mrs.
Julita T. Baclig, the former District Supervisor of the district managed the
Central school till January 2011. In January 24, 2011, Mrs. Marilou F.
Santiago was promoted as Elementary School Principal III and was assigned as
the Principal of the Central school up to June 2014.When Mrs. Marilou F.
Santiago was promoted to District, Mrs Lucila C. Pili took over the school. And
at present Mr. Segundo A. Tayag Jr. is the new school principal II of
Concepcion North Central Elementary School.
