The Youth Speaks club at Ybb will be participating in a debate competition on March 14th, 2019 at St. Joe's where they will argue whether people would want to live to be 100 years old. The club has already won the competition for the past two years. Cerys will argue that people do want to live to 100 while Seren will argue they do not. The club practices debating skills twice a week to improve speaking, listening, and considering both sides of an argument. A poll of over 400 students and staff at the school found that only 35% said they would like to live to 100 years old.

100? The Youth speaks is a debating competition. You pick an argument and show both sides then the chairperson sums up each argument. This year the argument is would you want to live to a hundred years old.
Youth Speaking Members:
Proposer- Seren (doesn’t want to live to a hundred years old).
Opposer- Cerys (does want to live to a hundred years
old) There’s a competition on Thursday the 14th of March 2019 which they have been practicing for in YBB two times a week. The competition will be held in St Joe’s. The Youth speaking club have already won it for two years so let’s see if they can make it three years.
The reason they do this is because it helps with
speaking and listening skills, it improves confidence and it shows that there’s always to sides to an argument.
We also asked the school their opinion. Out of over
400 pupils and staff asked, only 35% said they would like to live to 100.
